Denied decent jobs. Denied the right to vote. Not that far removed from lynchings being commonplace. Provided with a vastly inferior standard of education.
Emmett Till, Rosa Parks, etc. Police who were not only institutionally racist, but actively assaulted black people for ****s and giggles. Black people being arrested and convicted of crimes they didn't commit. They were oppressed to a degree that we can barely comprehend.
He has absolutely no reason to believe black people and white people could coexist. White people made it abundantly clear they didn't want to.
Yet, because he adopted the attitude that, okay, we won't coexist then - we will read the teachings of colonised people in other countries, who successfully fought colonisation, we will teach our own kind that we are not inferior, we will form our own nation, he is the racist
It's very easy to point to the example of Martin Luther King, but plenty of the most important figures in the civil rights movement - Malcolm X, Bobby Seale, Huey Newton, the list goes on - broadly believed in the same things as Ali. We are oppressed. We will fight oppression by any means necessary. You have spent a century vilifying us and telling us we are inferior, we will vilify you and tell our kind we are superior.
Ali's views were a product of his surroundings. White people gave him no reason to believe in them. As things changed, so did Ali's views. It's such a white way of looking at Ali's pov - disconnected from context - to suggest it resembled racism. They were the oppressed. They were fighting back, not casting the first stone. Even Malcolm X changed his views as he came to see coexistence in other parts of the world.
Despite all that, Ali never turned away a white kid who wanted to speak to him. He never held the sins of their fathers against them. He regularly gave speeches to white children, about bullying etc. There are photos of him teaching self defence to white children.
He took a stand and tried to help his own people, and advocated black nationalism in a country where segregation was already imposed by the white man. He and Malcolm X believed the only way to restore black pride was to create a black national identity. They didn't think this for a laugh. They thought it because black people had been stripped of their pride by white America.
And there is some evidence to suggest that Malcolm X and MLK were much closer than most people think. Malcolm X openly stated that by adopting an extreme stance, he would make MLK's more moderate approach far more palatable to white America.

Anyone who doesn't understand why a black man at the time of the Vietnam war wouldn't want to "fight for America" either has serious IQ problems, or knows the truth but is too proud/ignorant to admit it. Either way, not worth arguing with. And this is coming from someone who is against the concept of SJWs and all the vile sh!t they're perpetuating nowadays.

It doesn't matter what the war was or wasn't. The United States told you, hey, time to go to war. You grab your chit and go fight for your country.
That's my belief.
I also understand race issues were much different then, but the Malcom X ideology is akin to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson with violence. It does nothing but destroy race relations and invoke racism.

When your country says you can't go to the same schools as whites, don't go to those schools
When your country says you can't use the same facilities as whites, don't use those facilities
When your country wants to deny medical treatment to blacks for experimentation, just deal with it
But when your country wants you to disproportionately serve in a war, be glad to serve your country

The Michael Jackson outcry i kind of understood considering how beloved and rather young he was, but these others like Prince and Ali i dont understand.
especially prince, 99% of the people shouting their love from the rooftops for prince on FB wouldnt be able to name a song of his other than purple rain. in fact they probably only even know who he is because of dave chappelle

People care cause he was the greatest boxer to ever grace the ring. He was the underdog, he was a living legend. He fought with the top 5 hardest heavyweight hitters and defeated them all. He was the greatest of the greatest, he defeated
Sonny Liston, he defeated a prime George Foreman, he defeated Joe Fraizer, he defeated Earnie Shavers. He had the will and determination of a mad man, he never gave up, he went against the Government and defeated them too. He was pretty fukin bad ass. He did what he loved for a living. People like him are 1 in 100 million, but i don't expect you to understand this, your iq must be under 70!

Only idiots think that muhammad was a genius, I've heard his speeches, the illusion that makes him sound intelligent is the fact that he is extroverted, but any intelligent guy who analyzes the points he puts on the table will recognize that he is a complete retard. And when googling IQ, this is what I found:
"Evidently Ali took an IQ test for the Army and was scored a 78."

But to that my response would be that the Ali was a very very famous celebrity. I obviously wasn't alive back then, but I would find it very hard to imagine him facing anything close to what the average african american faced when it came to being denied entry into restaurants etc.

The ultimate hilarity of introverts is that their both incredibly arrogant/intellectual while at the same time incredibly insecure and beta.

Here an "amazing speech" where he keeps on rambling the same thing for minutes long to bring up a boring point.
No one called him a genius?

That's my belief.
I also understand race issues were much different then, but the Malcom X ideology is akin to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson with violence. It does nothing but destroy race relations and invoke racism.
