So weird that I'm seeing this thread. I just recently decided to start skating again after stopping in the 4th grade. I didn't do much then, just the occasional rolling. I'm 24 now and just got my board last week. Been having so much fun re-learning how to balance and then trying ollies. I mostly got back into it to try to learn technical tricks and going off big stairsets eventually.

Edit: Also tried to get as much of my friends into it again too. So far, I managed to definitely convince one who bought a board again and two of them have old ones that they are gonna try out before they commit to getting a new one.

How is skating on wet grounds for the board? Not really the best right, since the bearing will rust?

ashin is seriously in the best situation with his boys. I skate alone for now, just because I feel like I would hold everyone else back

We have the same goals, and likely are around the same level of skill. Good luck dude, it's one of the best decisions I made.

i don't know crap about skating, but don't wrap up your ankles. the nba had high tops for decades, then all this research came out that having your ankles flex (to the extreme , often) is still better than locking them out with a hightop shoe. that's why you see so many nba players wearing lowtops now, and ankle injuries are way down recently.

this, you're not in jr. high anymore. i'm in my 30's, and would want to do stuff kids do all the time, but don't have the sack. always mire seeing older dudes skate. and yes, i see dudes in suits skating to work. no one cares anymore, trust me, people are so self-centered that they don't even know you exist, unless you ride straight into them.

Thats whats up.

Skateboarding ollies dont make any sense. When you finally "get it", its a beautiful moment and you feel like youre 10 ft in the air. All i did mostly was jump over my board lol


EDIT: not sure if it was mentioned itt, but on netlix there should be a documentary on chris Cole as well as a Plan B vid that showcases torey pudwells hatred of physics and fetish for ledges and flips.

Fixed up my bearings a little bit and went out today with friends for like 3-4 hours just riding and trying ollies. I got a few good ones in and I definitely felt that beautiful moment. Even let out a Ronnie Coleman "Whooooo!" when I landed a good one.

Yeah, I had to do some hardcore maintenance but the bearings are skateable for now lol. I'm never letting my board anywhere near water now

Yep, I use it as a form of cardio and do it for at least an hour before or after the gym. So I just take out two hours to skate and lift during the day

I feel like you just get used to skating whatever you decide to skate. Deck size is pretty trendy. Back in my day 8.0 was the biggest size anyone would go, it was considered a big board. We only skated 7.5 and 7.75. Now 8.0 is like the standard size and dudes are going past 8.5.

And before my day dudes were skating 10.0 boards with those old skool shapes.

ill give you some advice but ive been out of the game for a while now.

buy blank decks on ebay, i used to get like 10 decks for $100. i would snap decks a lot so a $50 graphic deck was too much to pay.

get a good set of bearings. it took me years to realize this, but i got some bones super 6 and it was such a great investment.
