Because it takes quite a lot to make a nuke, and the US actively makes sure they control who has the capabilities of producing the necessary Uranium and Plutonium required for the fusion/fission reaction. Definitely interesting, how they even came up with the calculations and the descend into orbit etc is mind boggling.
