i havent got the game, but i hear they focused on the "catch 'em all" aspect of pokemon games, and not the battles.
i heard you can't battle other players, only at "gyms"? and there's no pve at all outside of that?

i srsly thought it would be just like the old games except you are the one walking around irl, and you'd get to try to capture pokemon by battling them and ****, and instead of just finding random "trainers" along the way to lvl up, you could just battle randoms who have the app on their phone.

but all i see is ppl throwing pokeballs at pokemon they find on gps. no battles, no strategy, nothing. can't even battle other players? wtf?

this seems lame tbh. does anyone else feel this way?

but y isn't that already in the game? you can't even trade with players or battle wild/other people's pokemon? that was a huge part of the original game, and they just left it out?

please tell me why pokemon go is better than an unlicensed mod with all those features without mentioning playerbase size/demographics

Back in 1999 I had a gameboy pocket with pokemon yellow, my parents already had mobile phones, what's the difference these days?

It actually takes a lot of development to get a smooth game running, these features will definitely be added later but it's obviously too much to add in at once to make the game playable. I mean there are issues atm and it doesn't have all the features yet, based on the servers I'm not even sure nintendo could predict it would be this popular this fast

A Gameboy isn't the same as a phone which lets you communicate with strangers over the Internet, watch videos, etc. When very young kids have access to that stuff unsupervised all sorts of damage can be done.

A parent going out with their child to play the Pokemon game and limiting their access to it, sure why not but these kids that have their phone on them 24/7 as if they're adults, that ****'s ****ed

this is a good thing, it's actually crazy how many kids are outside and how many people I've been seeing walking around playing this game. it's just good that people are moving, honestly. that's something that hasn't really been popularized in the gaming community since Wii Fit, this game has already made a lot more impact than it. I myself am having a fun time with the game although only when Wi-Fi is present since it eats the chit out of data. i've been a huge pokemon fan throughout my life.

cliffs:
-game is fun
-can't wait for updates (pvp, trading, etc)
-more power those playing it the right way

It's funny how many parents let their kid boss them around lmao.

that good but sort of sad in a way
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

yeah but you know there are gnna be a ton of kids sneaking out to go play this with their friends. inb4 millions of amber alerts

---

i never played as a kid but its obviously a big deal for those that did idk why people are condemning adults for reliving some of their childhood. a lot of people at that age work meaningless jobs and would probably relive their childhood if given the choice (srs just look at the threads on here about it)

also...if playing this is cringeworthy then what does that make me if i watch videos of people playing it?

I really liked GO but had to stop playing after I found out it basically assumes full access to your Gmail if you log in using that.

It's fun and all and even my friends are into it but fuk if I'm letting some app read through my e-mails.
