Look at how much tuition, books, and university-owned student housing prices have gone up in the last few decades:




These universities are banking on making college "free" aka paid for by state and federal governments aka paid for by mandatory TAX REVENUES.

If the government pledges to pay for kids to get chitty degrees in womens studies and underwater basketweaving, then the schools can all unilaterally raise their prices even more without anyone being able to do anything about it. The public can opt out of paying outrageous prices for school, but they can't opt out of paying taxes so easily.

Let me educate you, brah. The Dutch are disproportionately responsible for the African slave trade from 1500-1850. From ~1650 onwards, you guys were #1 in the slave trade.

Just because slavery was illegal IN the Netherlands for most of this time doesn't mean that your country didn't become wealthy by many of your people importing slaves into North and South America for 350 years. Much of the reason why the Netherlands is still a rich country today (relative to other Euro countries) is because of wealth that was accumulated during that time.
