I worked as a removalist for a year, I don't think I would have been as efficient with just bicep curls and kickbacks.

Nobody said that.

I squat, deadlift and bench too. But I also do oly lifts, I run, I swim and I have 10% bf so I can translate my gains to real life.

Powerlifters think if they do the big three that's it they are 'functional' lol. Functional for fuk all.

Straw man - implying anyone who claims powerlifting is nkt functional only does biceps and kickback lol

Since always since they train some of the body's biggest gross movement patterns.

Competitive powerlifting is its own end and has nothing to do with how "functional" squats and deadlifts are in general. You are conflating two entirely separate issues in your OP.

You are obviously a weak little *******.

I squat, DL, and clean every week. Look how fat and neckbeard-y I am.

If you play any sort of sports, "functional powerlifting" will help you out.

If you want to possess a strong physique, "functional powerlifting" will help you out.

Not really. If powerlifters who go through the mental gymnastics of redefining what functional means.

Being able to bench heavy or squat heavy or deadlift heavy in and of itself does not mean you are functional.

Sure, but nobody is defining being "functional" as only being able to perform the big 3 well.

It just so happens that compound movements with free weights train a number of aspects of 'functional fitness', and that applies to all the lifts, be they barbell deadlifts, kettlebell snatches, or dumbell overhead squats.

Because your argument is retarded. Powerlifting being functional is not the problem, people who eat too much and power lift are the problem. Most power lifters don't get to 300lbs so they can squ at 1000. Just like most normal bodybuilders aren't trying to look like Ronnie Coleman.

But hey you can swim and run, so congrats on being in the top 1% of the 1%.

Yes of course I forgot about this functionality - the bear attacks you when you are laying in a bench in the middle of the wilderness, and you manage to bench press it off

bent over rows, military press, squats as well as core training are my staples. I don't see the appeal of going full brosplit mode nor do I see the appeal of going full PL mode. I want to look good and I want to retain my ability to do backflips and sh!t.

i bet most of you eat like chit, only fat foods in order to "gain strength" - only to lose that "strength" the moment you stop eating like a fuking pig. Functional bodystrength is not dependant on the amount of calories you consume; all it requires is willpower. 100% will

The protein you get from "big macs" could very well come straight from chernobyl.. it is not healthy for the body to eat crap. Go on a healthy diet with real food and you will live to your fullest potential, physically and spiritually - I dare you

Do you think that is my maximum strength? I was warming up my lower back before I went to the bench press. I have a video of me lifting 150kg, which is not EXTREMELY strong, but it is good functional strength compared to my bodyweight and the fact that I do not train to become a strong gorilla.

In reality, functional refers to being able to perform a specific task. This has been my issue ITT from the beginning. Instead of trying to understand that, you decided to lash out at me for no apparent reason
