Unquestionably Halo 2. I've probably played 20,000 games, plus another 10k in the other games in the series... good times. Good fukin times.

Diablo II - the grim/dark atmosphere, the music in the lobby, trades, duels, powerleveling... diablo 3 is such trash in comparasion.
Baldurs Gate I and II - possibly the most complex games ever created... DnD fan
Medal Of Honor Allied Assault - the first FPS I played with voice chat (roger wilco, team speak), clans, scheduled matches on TWL, I was a monster at that game
WoW vanilla - this game had such an epic feel early on, it was the first mainstream MMORPG (everquest was only for a unique niche), I honestly nothing will top this, the current state of WoW is sad

I got thinking on this topic, and it just took me on a feel trip.
Battlefield 2. I was taking 5-6 AP classes a day in high school and had a 45 minute commute each way to school. So by the time I got home, the last thing in the world that I wanted to do was my homework. Brb walk in the door and fire up BF2, and that was probably 3 or 4 times a week for 3 years. As it was officially released, the game was kind of broken, but with a couple of server-side tweaks (unlimited sprint, vehicles die with one rocket launcher hit, faster vehicle respawn, etc), it was the GOAT online shooter. I have never seem a game that could scale so dramatically and still be just as fun. Brb 13-flag mountain map one time, server's next level will be a 4-flag close-quarters urban map. And because of that it never got old. BF2 is the high point of the franchise IMO and still the best online shooter I've played.
Battlefield 1942 Wake Island Demo. One of those classes I took in high school was computer science, and the brahs in that class weren't fond of getting work done. We had a dozen ****ty desktops that were all connected by LAN, and you know what that means. The BF1942 demo could be played off a USB drive and could run on a ****ty mid 2000s Pentium machine. So many GOAT feels, blowing off coding to play LAN matches with classmates or team-playing like a clan in online matches. Even as a 2002 demo, it had a stunningly active community as late as 2014, there were 3 or 4 full 32-man servers all day long. There was even an active modding community.
Starcraft franchise. The other game some of the less shooter-inclined guys at school played was Starcraft Brood War, they'd have these 8-way LAN matches after school that looked amazing. I decided to teach myself how to play the game so I could join in. Started on the single player of Starcraft 1 and instantly got hooked. I beat all 30 level of the original game over a 2 week break, then beat all 30 levels of Brood War in a month over the summer. Fuuuck those last mission were impossible. I used have a dozen cheat codes and still lost over and over again. I got Starcraft 2 and kept on going. WoL and HOTS are probably the most fun single player campaigns I've ever played. I ended up having to wait 2 years for LOTV to come out and by that time the magic was pretty much gone. But still, that run where I beat one game after the other is probably the most hooked I've ever been with a video game. Brb beating 80 levels across 3 games and still getting pumped for the 81st.

Nothing will compare to Vanilla WoW. Jumping on vent and dominating in WSG because the other team didn't play smart, 40 man raids, exploring all of the maps, etc. ****.
