Only been here for a year and half, and it's very clear to me what's killed this place.

- Strict modding (thank all the psychos and supreme gents for that), some mods have made it clear that's why they've become more strict over what was allowed in the past, because it's bad for the site's business outside the misc. Traffic still being "high" for what it is, mods don't even bother giving warnings and chit, and instantly ban people for whatever offense.

- Detectives making people more hesitant to deliver threads with pics and detailed stories, so most threads are the same watered down bullchit that's mostly full of negativity, gets to the point where people don't even bother posting at all. And it ends up mostly the same population of posters circle jerking each other and whatnot.

- Social media (even though social media is boring af, and everyone knows it. It's the "hip/trendy" thing to do, where people are now brave enough to have a internet social outlet that gets their personal lives involved. Makes people feel more like they are a somebody, and stuff like that)

- Other edgy forums like reddit/4chan that allow nudity, more information, more trolling, etc that have blew up. Basically everything misc was supposed to be, but can't be.

- Nerd/neckbeard culture growing and overshadowing lifting/macho culture. Every community has a niche, including edgy ones, and frankly, most edgy forums are full of neckbeards and chit, because as we all know, men have been massively emasculated in this new PC generation, and a lot of tech/nerd stuff have been blowing up, lot of the introvert/rotter crowd have been neckbeards in general, and now there's a big culture where it's actually cool to be a neckbeard. Fitness has gotten stronger in some areas due to social media, but at most people get the fit bod just to look good, they don't waste their time with the community and glorifying themselves on instagram and etc. Think of all the guys and gals with nice bods that you see who've made it, whether they're actors, dancers, on TV shows, athletes, etc, most of them don't even post here regularly, if at all, because to them it's more about looking good or being in shape for a different profession, they don't treat lifting/fitness like a strong community/hobby/professional based thing. You even see professional neckbeard gamers that lift, but they'll lift on the side because they like to lift or wanna look good, but then they go back to winning thousands to millions at those LoL/CSGO/CoD,etc tournaments, because that's where it's at.
Bodybuilding itself is one of the least popular sports, so lifting doesn't have a significant reward system to most people, and further ends up not being their main focus.

I wouldn't blame the topic of discussions like FA, redpill, tradie vs stem, etc, because miscers made it clear that kinds of depressing/negative and other stupid trends/discussions have always been relevant. It's just a certain amount of calculated occurrences that had made this culture/forum die down.

A few years back I thought that at some point I was gonna have to leave the misc and move on. Right now it looks like the it's actually going to be the misc that is going to shut down before I leave it.

It's one of the rare places I can speak relatively freely and call out all the nonsense in the world - within reason. There are still enough funny troll threads and memes to make me laugh as well. The day it stops being this way is the day I stop posting. Though I have noticed it's a lot stricter but when you compare it to other internet forums/liberal controlled social media like TWITTER, we can get away with a lot. There are posters here who I actually respect and even with my decent knowledge I still end up learning something and gaining a new perspective/way of expressing an idea.

But yes, I do remember posting a thread and if it didn't get a reply with 1 minute it was lost forever but we also had dik pic threads being spammed lol. Remember that siege?
