The best books are the ones that people won't post about here.
Be honest, how many of you have read a book that has such good information you wouldn't tell anyone?

As a Man Thinketh & 8 Pillars
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

I see where you're coming from though and there are certain books that I wouldn't recommend to certain people that I know. Even though they are amazing pieces of text with extremely useful information. Perhaps I'm not willing to give them free advice; or share certain aspects of my personality with someone distant to me. Perhaps I view them as judgmental, and certain books are thought of as a personal experience to me.
But the truth is that hidden gems are not so hidden. There are amazing tools for learning, for example, that hardly anyone takes the time to appreciate and take advantage of. Look at how many people "don't read" because they haven't acquired the skill of concentration. And then consider that concentration is the most basic of learning tools.
There are a grand total of 0 books that I wouldn't be willing to share here. I'm not going to meet anyone here and it's not like every book I post is guaranteed to be read, analyzed, thoroughly understood, and then put into practice in such a way that brings harm to me.
Far more likely is the possibility that sharing knowledge will bring about a greater understanding and empathy for the world around us, enabling society to be unveiled from ignorance and granted enlightenment. That is a far reaching possibility. And it is an inevitability that by relating knowledge we can relate to each other. Thereby increasing empathy.
On to the texts...
Unlimited Memory by Kevin Horsely - This should be the first book you read in this thread.
How To Win Friends And Influence People
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
The Alabaster Girl (Also read How To Be A 3% Man for another, simpler perspective)
Intimate Connections by David Burns (another good one for miscers)
The Now Habit
The Bible
But the shortest read is "As A Man Thinketh." Only 21 pages and it is exceptional.
https://wahiduddin.net/thinketh/as_a_man_thinketh.pdf
I've read The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck. But I found it underwhelming because the message is simple.
Books that I have high expectations for and I currently own. I am in the process of reading one or more of these.
The Harvard Classics: Plato, Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius
48 Laws of Power
True North (leadership)
Good To Great (leadership)
Thinking Strategically
Mastery by Robert Greene
The 33 Strategies of War by Robert Greene
The Art of Deception
The Six Pillars of Self Esteem
The Art of Seduction
The Charisma Myth
I have added a few from this thead as well such as Gorilla Mindset, 4 Hour Work Week, and Awaken The Giant Within.

Autobiography of Malcolm X

I think Catcher In The Rye was very relatable to me when I was in my early 20s but Holden sounds like a brat to me nowadays
but I'd be lying to say I didn't feel like him when I was 17 - 21 or so.

My favorite book of all time, all about how different aspects of the scientific world can be utilized and maximized to help your life, although it is conceptual in it's nature it covers evolution, Zipf's law (80/20), string theory, relativity etc and how to apply it to our lives/businesses.

How to successfully form habits and the scientific understanding as to how/why they emerge in our brains. You can find it online

My top 3 business books and that's saying something having gone through 100s, pretty much goes through the totality of what one should know going into business, having gone through 100s of other books on the topic, I can say it covers about 66%+ of what I would put in a book which is FAR superior to many other books (Power Laws comes close in a different manner) (online)

Somewhat similar to the first book, but more psychology based and crowd oriented than individual behavior, although similar, online

You can find all of this online

Most of his books are fantastic, interesting concepts about mindset and different aspects of philosophy/politics/economics/self actualization
Also in regards to women you can read any Abrahamic religion or philosopher, they're spot on.
In terms of politics I'd say the following are must reads:
Culture Of Critique
Examining the ethnocentric group strategy of a certain group (online)
The Dark Enlightenment Nick Land
Examining the political landscape spanning over hundreds of years (online)
How Dawkins Got Pwned
Similar above (online)
The Righteous Mind
Why people are liberal or conservative and what values they hold dearest (online)
Anything by Ha Joon Chang, Milton Friedman, Adam Smith
different ideas about capitalism from the staunchly capitalist Friedman to the more moderate Smith to Ha Joon who is pretty much a socialist but he does make interesting/good critiques of capitalism

Whether you want to learn about the biological reality of race, women's behavior, manipulating people etc, not sure what you think is out there but as someone in the 1% of book consumption of this forum (have gone through 1000+ maybe even 1000s and on many different subject matters), there's just nothing too immediately helpful in the rarer books people "won't post."

I really like Mastery by Robert Greene. Great book.
Really gives you a deeper picture of what it takes to be the best of the best. The persistence, dedication and obsession. One guy that really stood out to me was this artist who studied engineering and architecture and even went as far as to get a masters degree just to be able to draw buildings better. He studied over a decade or something. Crazy dedication.
Also love this paragraph:
Page 13 β If you are not careful, you will find this attitude infecting you in subtle ways. You will unconsciously lower your sights as to what you can accomplish in life. This can diminish your levels of effort and discipline below the point of effectiveness. Conforming to social norms, you will listen more to others than to your own voice. You may choose a career path based on what peers and parents tell you, or on what seems lucrative. If you lose contact with this inner calling, you can have some success in life, but eventually your lack of true desire catches up with you. Your work becomes mechanical. You come to live for leisure and immediate pleasures. In this way you become increasingly passive, and never move past the first phase. You may grow frustrated and depressed, never realizing that the source of it is your alienation from your own creative potential.
Book really helped me make a tough decision in life in regards to my career.I look forward to his next book about social IQ

There is lots of generic self-help in this thread. I have read my fair share of them as well, but only when I needed specific advice on what to do in a specific situation. As such I wouldn't call them life-changing, even though I've read lots of them. I will give you one generic self-help book however:No Excuses by Brian Tracy. It features chapters on sections such as health, relationships, children, business and an action plan for each. This is the only generic book you'll ever need - if specific issues come up, read specific books.
For example, which books have made me the most money? Influence by Cialdini and SPIN Selling by Neil Rackham. Have they "changed my outlook as a man"? No.
I will leave you with three books that DID have a profound, and traceable, impact on my personal life.
1) Meditations, by Marcus Aurelius.
I've seen lots of people recommend it. Can't agree more. I'm sorry but if you don't understand it (and call it gibberish) you need to make an effort. This book is literally thousands of years old and it's a classic for a reason. Yes, it's not as accessible as generic self-help book #234. The Penguin edition is decent and has lots of notes that explain context and general Stoic philosophy. This is your chance to read the personal diary of a Roman emperor - the mightiest person on Earth, and who above all didn't get absolutely corrupted by absolute power.
2) Sperm Wars, by Robert Baker
This is an excellent primer on evolutionary psychology as it specifically relates to male/female dynamics. Once you understand how male and female mating strategies are different, your life will change completely. This is not an exaggeration. This is the kind of info that is "dangerous" if too many people knew about it.
3) The Brothers Karamazov, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
I'm ending this list with my personal favorite novel. This gem of a book has philosophical, theological and psychological value. It's about 800 pages long but you'll have it finished in no time. It was one of Einstein's favorite books and Ludwig Wittgenstein (one of the most important 20th century philosophers) read it so often he knew entire passages by heart. That should tell you enough.

It is not a case that people are not posting these books, but instead don't even know about them.
