The last time I posted pics or was ever involved with social media bs was like 3.5 years ago, and looking back it was super cringey where I was embarrassed with myself.

The 6 figure businessman comes in with the full nike set + $140 training shoes, wrist wraps, knee wraps, sweatbands, shaker bottle, smartphone holder, $300 bluetooth headphones and their pristine gym bag.
Am I the only one who notices this? You can spot them because they're usually over 35 and wear traditional style training gear, none of that tapered gym pants/deep cut stringer stuff.

I wish I spent as much time developing useful skills instead of spending so much time lifting. Maybe I'd actually know something useful.... like how to fix cars or how to snowboard or something. Instead I can just lift moderately heavy things and have somewhat larger than average arms (years of working out and still on DYEL status)

A 6 page thread about gym culture being cringey.. on bodybuilding.com.. shows Reddit neck beards have fully infiltrated.
Nobody seems bothered when people post pics of them consuming copious amounts of booze as if that’s any better, or posting pics of them doing any other hobby. Lol.

Don't have a problem with humble gym brahs who occasionally post to IG with a PR or a physique update. It's the *******s who upload the same chitty posts on a day to day basis and talk about the 'grind' and the 'struggle', when gymcelling is a fukkin hobby for 90% of us. It's like someone who plays golf talking about how hard it is to go play golf with the boys on a saturday afternoon.

I enjoy lifting, working towards building a well-rounded physique and even compete in bodybuilding, but I can't stand the cringey gym culture that's on social media. It's great that people have hobbies that they're into, but they don't have to post every second about it with cliché motivational quotes as if they're saving the world.
A lot of those people are one-dimensional and that's the only thing that they have going for them in life. Good for them if that's enough, but I much rather pursue other things.

Now someone who can give 100% in the gym then allow that mindset to carry over into other aspects of life and excel at everything they do? That's something to admire IMO, sadly for many of these fitness models there's no substance or depth to who they are.
