Good for him keeping his head on straight while breaking up with her. It’s hard to do when you’ve been betrayed that severely. This actually reminds me of that thread a year ago about the worst thing anyone has done in a break up. Some of us keep our calm and others flip out and go scorch earth. I find the calm and collected breakups cut through all the BS and excuses a lot faster.
One of my exes was actually married with kids (I.e. I was unaware other woman). When I found out through his wife calling me, I just sent a screenshot of the phone call with her number to him. Talked to him over the phone to end it and say what I need to say to let him know that it’s not ok to treat his wife or me like this. Then NC. People don’t learn their lessons if you don’t let them know exactly what was wrong. Sad to say but most adults will still try to rationalize heir behaviors by blaming you for going NC. People being ****ty isn’t a good reason for you to be shytty in return. I haven’t met any truly good people who felt good after going scorch earth on an unfaithful partner. Why should you be concerned if they learn a lesson or not. They won't be in your life anymore regardless. You aren't their father, you don't need to let them know what they did was wrong or lecture them about it. That's such a weak approach and really shows butthurt.
Needing closure is living in the past. It shows that you lack the ability to move forward without reaffirmation.
Regardless of why you end a relationship, even if it's over someone eating the last yogurt. All you need to do is say "it's over, i'm breaking up with you" in a text, block everything and mail their stuff to them. If they live with you then it's complicated of course.
