Obviously goes without saying there is and should be no issue at all over casting ethnic minority's, but Ciri? Why are they specifically looking for a non white person to play her while she was white in the books.

Henry Cavil cast as Geralt - Guy's a huge gamer and fan of the series, and also a talented actor, so it sounds good I suppose. I do think that the other suggestions others have posted could certainly be good, and perhaps a relatively unknown actor would work best, but it's impossible to say for now. I'd rather have someone who is genuinely passionate about the role over someone taking it for the paycheck alone, especially since it's a Netflix Original and not HBO we're talking about here.

The connection to Netflix's marvel stuff already has me nervous because that is as far from engaging storytelling as I can imagine, and overall I find that Netflix is the antithesis to quality standards. As soon as Netflix switched to the thumbs up/down system, I just went ape on that down button on anything that didn't appeal to me... I have been down the Rabbit Hole of how chit Netflix's content is trying to train their stupid algorithm to stop showing me anything from stand up specials to rom-coms to bollywood garbage, and the odds just are not in the Witcher series' favor. Netflix repels good content like the polar opposite of a quality magnet.

I mentioned this in the other forum, but the funding is another problem. Netflix isawfulat managing their money with show budgets and they've already cancelled their three most expensive shows unceremoniously. Probably the only reason theirmostpricey production, The Crown, hasn't been cancelled is it gets awards because those award shows and Hollywood in general have a massive boner for the British monarchy. Our luck would be the show is good or at least shows promise, but they decide to cut it off because for that much money, they could fund a decade of crappy stand-up and sitcoms featuring washed up comedians.
The problem transcends into the works themselves because they're not evenremotelysubtle about these sorts of things, specifically when they completely ignore just how out of place their forced casting choice is given the time period or setting. SJWs were b*tching about CDProjektRed not putting in different races in the Witcher 3, despite the fact the series is based on Slavic lore. It's as asinine as if there was some protest to include gingers in Black Panther. It might be fine for people who literally havezerograsp on history or have never looked at a bloody map before, but everyone else that isn't operating on the same brain activity as an avocado hooked up to a AA battery is going to notice the obvious dissonance.

And for a character likeCiri?!?That's just being egregious; the woman is so white her hair is white. That's one of the foremost defining characteristics about her and Geralt. At that point, they're taking away casting opportunities from albinos.
