The Cormier-Jones saga was much more intense from an actual fighting perspective, with Jones' repeated 'enhancements', and their rivalry. I was a Cormier fan too, and even when Jones socked him at the UFC Media Day:



And the UFC itself uses these cuts to promote its fights. It doesn't really give 2 chits about professionalism, it's all about money.

But the fact is, Cormier will always ask himself: could I have beaten Jones without his enhancements? AndIhave often asked myself: Jones was one of the greatest of all time...would he have been so without the enhancements? Why couldn't he keep his head straight? I can't go into much detail here but Jones and his crew were not the most upstanding of citizens. And it sucks for the MMA community tbh. Jones could have been the greatest of all time, and a truly exemplary champion for the sport. Emphasis on 'could have'. Ahh well.

It's tragic from a fight perspective whereas the Khabib and Conor thing again has far too much R/P crap injected. Either way, Conor wants a rematch, and it'll happen - for sure, at some point - and the UFC will milk the f**k out of it. I can't imagine how Conor could pull it off in a rematch but...well, he has surprised me before.
