Whoever the makeup artists on this show are need to get a fukking emmy.

Those brahs melting on their hospital beds hit me harder than any of the real gore videos I've seen on the internet god damn.

Does anyone know where I can find more information on what could have happened if it weren't for the suicide squad?

I'm interested in how half of Europe being uninhabitable and the sheer amount of radiation dispersed into the air would have changed the world.

Such an interesting topic.

HBO has a real banger on their hands here, fascinating series.

The acting is fantastic, the cinematography is gripping, very well done.

I wish some of the dialogue were clearer though, often times it's hard to distinguish what they're saying because they all speaks so soft and with an accent.

She had no idea what radiation is and what it does to a person and how contagious it is. She just loved her husband very much.

He flew through the thick radiation smoke when he was told not to. He didn't see the other side until it was too late. Also cable is pretty invisible that high up when you have the sky in the background.

Podcast is pretty good. There was a lot of research done to develop character attitudes and events.

From their research Anatoly Dyatlov byallaccounts was unpleasant and stubborn.
Before Chernobyl, Dyatlov was involved in a nuclear accident (cleared of wrong doing, hmm) at a submarine plant and received a heavy dose of radiation. Sounds like his arrogance of radiation during Chernobyl came from being exposed earlier and thinking less of it... even though shortly after the submarine reactor accident his son died of leukemia.

From all but 1 account, the evacuation of Pripyat was very organized.
While large areas of the USSR would have food shortages and wait lists for basic needs, what I didn't realize is that Pripyat was an ideal socialist city. People wanted to work at the plant to be able to be housed in Pripyat.

Best series I've seen a quite a long time, the entire story is fascinating.
If this story wasn't true it would be hard to believe that this level of incompetence would have ever passed.... scary chit brahs.

Anyone know how many episodes this "mini-series" will end up being?
Also, trying to find the documentary mentioned earlier in this thread "The Russian Woodpecker" - suggestions on website to watch?

Holy chit brahs that was gory! this stuff is interesting as fuk though

Was there a particular reason why they kept them alive? it's no question that the soviets enjoyed testing the boundaries of science, could this be why? to see what would happen to them?

I think just based on the woman holding her man’s radioactive paw to her stomach when she walked into the room

This series is wicked so far and really interesting from a layman’s perspective

Anyone else not turned off from Nuclear energy while watching this?

I have one friend who is like a Nuclear alarmist. The nature of Nuclear is kinda frightening (invisible, potential for widespread devastation etc), but air particulates n chit from fossil fuel energy generation is estimated to kill 2million+ per year. Coal mining in the US by itself has killed over 100,000 people in the last century

you make it sound like that's the series' purpose, which it is not imo

at the start of the show / this thread there also were some concerns it would be anti-nuclear propaganda, which was quickly refuted by myself and fellow Miscers

unless I don't see it (?) there's nothing there that suggests nuclear energy is inherently bad
