It works better for pain than painkillers do, for me at least. If you can take 5 to 10mg of painkillers and feel euphoric than you probably would from kratom as well. For me I take kratom before I work out and I like green strains. Red strains do absolutely nothing for me but make me tired. White is ok for energy but not as good for pain

Anyone that wants to can PM about kratom and I'll give you the rundown

I think so, but if you try different colors use the same vendor to get a better idea of the differences. Whites for sure make me more energetic, reds (which I prefer) just make me more relaxed. Both make me "happy", just a different experience for both.

Also regarding phenibut, I think the stuff is WAY more dangerous than kratom as you can abuse the stuff for a week and end up having a really bad time discontinuing. I also don't feel like it's a healthy way to cope with things either. Let's take one with social anxiety, I feel like kratom is a subtle nudge in the right direction that'll allow someone to mend their broken relationship with human interaction, whereas phenibut is a shotgun blast that only serves as a crutch in the present, and you're no better than you were before you took it.

Some people do take kratom recreationally. I'm one of them. I could function fine without it, but it just gives me that extra boost. From the people I've spoken to that take kratom, it's a more viable and relatively safer alternative to their ongoing issues. Pain is a big one. It's probably better to take kratom if it mitigates pain symptoms long term rather than an opiate.
Well, I specifically said I could understand if it's in place of opiates or other RX pain meds. Any other reason, I don't think it's a good idea. It's just a crutch when people should be learning how to navigate life without drugs.

Saw a few guys mention taking it when going out. Does kratom give the confidence and low inhibitions that comes with 8-10 drinks while only sipping 2-3 drinks? Seems like something that would be a net positive for my health if I were to only take it only on the weekends and drank less as a result.
