My uncle has lost 25% of his lung capacity from maybe covid?

He got pneumonia in late February after being in NYC. He tested negative for the flu but they had no coronavirus test at the time.

I think so too. My symptoms lasted 10 days and I was back on the bike (literal bicycle) within 14 days. The men I know who tested positive have ranged from bacterial pneumonia, including a couple fun days of coughing up blood, to ending up on a ventilator. It's really concerning how much worse men's symptoms are.

Some girl my wife knows caught it early on and still has breathing issues and no sense of taste/smell 3 months later. (She's overweight)

Another girl was sick for about 10 days, all better now. (Wife's friend from gym)

My wife currently has it, (about 7-10 days so far) however symptoms are almost gone. Never had a fever, only had issues breathing if she would walk around the house too much. She has no taste/smell, but it's coming back today and late last night. (Wife gyms 4-5x a week)

I'm waiting to get it from her any day now. Doctor told her that there are mutations of it now which causes it to be less effective for some people.

I'm sorry to hear it affected you badly but cases like yours are rare. No need to shut down the world.

Sorry you're still feeling less than normal, OP. I know there have been (anecdotal) reports of still feeling under the weather a few months after. I hope you bounce back soon.

I wonder about the mutations bit, and I also wonder about viral load. The first people I knew in NYC who got it were healthcare workers and exposed to it quite a bit - they had worse symptoms. Once I and family got it a little further south of the city, the symptoms seem to have been more mild. Hope your wife recovers quickly, from the sounds of it she may be on the mend already. Hang in there.

My wife an I had a pretty moderate case of COVID and I would say we shared the same issues. We were really sick at the beginning of February and the effects lasted through May. I was tested positive for the anti - bodies so we are pretty sure we both had it before most cases were known.

I still have a bit a lingering effect in the eyes. I must admit I think my lung capacity is back to or close to normal. I have been doing a steady cardio workout regularly and am back to lifting regularly. It has been a long road. I was rather grateful for the shutdown as it gave me time to just work on myself and recover.

Maybe the COVID death counts are counted differently in different places?

Look into "probable fatalities". Also look into the death count in NY and NJ and see how the public hospitals in both locations were convincing people to be put on ventilators although it meant certain death. Also look into the way Cuomo put infected patients into elderly care facilities at the beginning of the outbreak.

Considering 70% of deaths in places like Ohio being in old folks homes that were locked down to keep them safe (no visitors and probably awful conditions even without COVID), gunshot victims, and people on their deathbeds from other conditions being counted as confirmed or probable. No wonder American's are not as worried. Maybe if Trump was not president we would have the same situation as a country like Germany. The last couple weeks has turned into constant questions regarding my opinion of Trump's handling of the crisis. All European news is just parroting of the NY times and other bias narratives. The new thing is things are so bad right now in the U.S. because of Trump. What the hell does he have to do with the virus?

Even in an article like this where they admit they are counting gunshot victims and over a hundred other non related deaths as COVID the media tries to portray it as under counting COVID deaths. The only reason they have to admit the false count is someone outside the media is trying to investigate this.

Meanwhile the hospitals get to charge more money for COVID patients. They charge the government 20% more in the case of a death (excluding additional treatment, protection, etc) for people on government programs or with no health insurance.

They are playing the same game with what is considered a case. Do we have any idea how accurate these tests are or how over 300 testing centers in Florida can have 100% positive test results for multiple days? The CDC no longer allows full access to the data.

My family had something similar back in February. Out of the four of us one of our kids was hit the hardest coughing for a week and a half home sick. I was also a bit sick, but the other two did not seem to be impacted. Neither my wife or I had a break from work and working from home has led to too much time working. I think my cardio and lung effectiveness were impacted, but have a hard time blaming it on COVID while I stay home all day and rot.

What really has me concerned is the number of women and children suffering abuse under this lock down and job situation.

We know that some percentage of people who are not in the high risk category are going to get it and end up with symptoms MUCH worse than the rest of the people like them. That's just bad luck. There is no way to know who will be that unlucky. The correct response is NOT to shut down the world for years waiting for a vaccine and surrender all of our civil liberties to the government and trust them not to morph into authoritarians.

Cloth masks don't work. House arrest for the entire population (minus government workers) doesn't work. Waiting potentially years for a vaccine doesn't work. The only way forward is herd immunity and a full restoration of our civil rights and austerity measures for a government which has needlessly destroyed the economy and spent us into bankruptcy.

I was not. I know three who were (in early March), which is a ridiculously high number. All three survived. It seems like that was an absolute last resort in the earlier days of the virus hitting the US, I'm not sure if they would have received the same treatment today.

Sorry to hear this OP, and a useful reminder for young people who they're invincible. We don't know yet how this disease will play out as it spreads through the population. Alot of people might come to regret not wearing that mask or attending that beach party as their lungs are turned into swiss cheese during their late 20's, early 30's.

Definetely don't wanna catch this chit and taking necessary precautions.

They should have a physical therapy post covid for people who were diagnosed with it. Hopefully it's not permanent damage and you just have to strengthen your lungs again.

3) Have you ever had asthma?

4) What was your cardiovascular fitness level pre and post COVID? Any breathing exercises or techniques (nostril breathing, deep diaphragmatic breathing, etc) Rx'd or done?

I can say that just post 3 month lockdown no COVID sickness, I was winded for the first two weeks of exercise and strength was moderately down.
