I'm at almost 300k now in 401k/IRA retirement funds, and honestly, this was without investing too much in my early 20's. I think what helped me is I was just doing the minimum to get the match, and I get a percentage of profit sharing dumped into my 401k annually. I didn't start putting 10 percent or more into retirement funds until my late 20's. My account could be way more if I invested more much earlier. OP also has a spouse that has been contributing which is also a bonus. My wife is set to make some decent money soon, so we will pretty much be able to live off of one salary and start investing the rest. What OP did is very achievable, though, if hold down a decent job most of your life and invest.

Took a bath since our asset allocation was very aggressive. Turned around pretty quick and more than made back that paper loss. Same thing with the 2007 crash. Came back stronger than ever.

Thanks. I try to live a life of leisure/chill, lol. We do whatever we want and some days do nothing at all. It took over a year to get used to not getting up and going to work. I surf the internet everyday, read car magazines, play cards, play some golf, go to the practice range, shooting range, bicycle, walk, and need to start lifting again. We have live entertainment available every evening with some really good local bands. We have the most holes of golf in the world. Rec centers have all kinds of activities and learning. You can never not be busy if you want.

You're doing great. One tip I wish I had done. Say you get a 3% salary/wage increase. Up your 401K contribution another 1%, so if at 10% make it 11%. Do it every year or every other year until you're at your max. contribution limit. Also, sometime open a Roth IRA and try to fund it to the max every year. That money you get to take out tax free. Once you have your 401K and Roth IRA fully funded every year and you still have leftover income, have some fun with it.

Depends on a few things. You have to plan on making that amount last into your mid-90s to be assured you won't run out of money. You have to continue to grow that money and because you're living off it, you have to have moderate investments rather than aggressive.

Running a Monte Carlo simulation for $2MM invested for 55 years in WVENX (60% stocks/40% bonds), you could probably safely take $7500 (adjusted for inflation) a month and not run out of money. If you can live on that monthly amount, then the answer to your question is yes.
