As usual, a bunch of Euros and Aussies assume that Americans care that we suck at soccer or that a bunch of foreigners think our sports are inferior. Why does it seem to personally offend you guys that Americans dont like soccer, meanwhile we dont give a flying phuck if the rest of the world doesn't like "handegg".

Same reason Americans watch NASCAR rather than F1 - it is load, brute and simple. Americans in general have more of a simple culture with a short lifespan - plastic surgery, blm, races, crappy food, loud sports, instagram, social media, brute cars, social justice interest, guns and all this barbarian stuff

US culture peaked in the early to mid 20 century, when it was influenced directly by European culture - the Art Deco period is still peak US period you guys had and I'm 'miring it. But after the 80's, epsecially the last two decades or so - things have gotten downhill. Would sound like a racist ****, but ever since black culture became mainstream in the 90's and started growing more in popularity the US culture lost it's way.

This is because you lack talent.
Going pro in ‘soccer’ required talent and infrastructure. Croatia has none of the latter for example.

If USA decided today to go hard into soccer, you wouldn’t see the top for another 20 years. Thats the simple truth. Thats how long it takes.

Soccer is gaining a lot of traction in America actually. It’s a very quickly growing sport. I won’t be surprised at all if in 30+ years soccer is the most viewed sport in the US.

All other sports are dropping in viewership, soccer is gaining.. make of that what you will lol. Combined with the fact that more kids are playing soccer these days as opposed to when we were growing up and literally no one wanted to play soccer.

Oh and btw, the american soccer team this World Cup looks like it will actually be really fuking good thanks to the European Americans and South Americans on the team lol. Im sure when you *******s have a winning team you’ll start “caring”.

I think the rest of the world plays it cause you can play it in poverty; just need an open field and a ball

Im not sure that answers why its not the most popular sport in america though. It may have something to do with monetary reasons

I just know that its popular world wide cause literally everybody can play it

I guess football (american) is the next most poverty sport, although idk how to account for yard increments and pads and helmets and ****. But technically you could play without them. Then basketball; needs concrete development

Im just listing some of the main ones *******s. Im sure there are tons of sports and lil variations

Messi makes about 135/per year. Lebron makes 100/year.

Those two figures are Messi without endorsements and Lebron with endorsements included.

Messi mogs him by approx double.

Sports popularity is determined by the media. More people play soccer in the US than any other sport, and football participation has been decreasing yearly.

The only reason it is still 'popular' is because networks make money from commercials. If soccer added commercial breaks every 3 minutes then it would be a hell of a lot more popular than football.

It isn't a coincidence that every sport in the US is maxed out in spot time vs commercial, sponsors, etc time. Even the fields, jerseys, surrounding fences, shoes, visors, hats, etc, nothing is left untouched by monetization.

It's not just cost. It's a lack of good genetics required to play it. All the actually competitive sports in the US require skill and size and speed. Soccer is where all the losers that can't compete in any other sport gravitate to.

Club lacrosse is for the rich kids that didn't have talent to play football basketball or baseball. The poor kids that suck all end up in soccer.

4 other sport's ahead of soccer here in the USA. Imagine if soccer was #1 here. We'd be top 3 in the world every single year. It's actually very popular at the youth level. Every single parks n rec department soccer is #1 in almost every city/county.

American football is a low iq sport.

Every position aside from quarterback and maybe the guy on offence who goes around and tries to sack the quarterback is legit 50iq.

The quarterback is a respectable sportsman though, I’ll give you that.

Say, ˹O believers,˺ We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.

To me one of the main reasons it'll never take off iss due to great vast distances that Teams have to Travel thatll always be a hinderance to forming Full Leauges (without the play Offs) that go East-West etc at rthe end
