But even so, a single guy making $55k a year can 100% afford a housing payment of $1,600 a month. In my mid 20s when i was single I was making in the upper 40s, had a $900 rent, and was saving over $1,000 a month. Was I living a lavish lifestyle? Absolutely not, I had a roommate in a shyt 100 year old walk up apartment, I was packing lunch and cooking dinner every day, barely ever had alcohol, etc. But I was making chit salary and didn't feel I was entitled to a lavish lifestyle. I decided to save my money instead. I now make 75k and own a house and am able to live a slightly more lavish lifestyle but I still know I can't afford everything I want.

Young people today need to realize they aren't entitled to everything they want. You can't live a lavish lifestyle, own a house, and only make 55k a year. You CAN pick two of those though, but not all three.
Just to use your example, Canada is slightly different. No 30 year mortgages here, has to be 25 or less. So payment goes up a bit. Including property taxes and utilities (which many people forget about) you're looking at say $1150 mortgage, $400 property taxes/insurance, and probably another $300 utilites (including internet, etc). So let's say $1850. 55k after taxes here is $3500 a month so over half your income is going towards housing. That's house poor, big time. And you haven't bought groceries or gas.

Having a roommate would help for sure. But again, in my city you can't even get a two bedroom place for under 400k.

Nope.

You can also join the corrupt Chinese regime and and use manipulated currency to basically buy all of the available real estate in California or Canada.

The fuk is stopping you OP? Pick yourself up by the bootstraps.
