Got way too easy toward the end though with infinite barrier and spectre weapons

Just started ME3 and enjoying it alot. They amped up the fighting system and it's even better than ME2. There's also a legit run function now which allows you to move faster throughout the map. Side missions have been going good too.

One thing I disliked about ME2 was a strong lack in an overall story. A strong bulk of the game was going on side missions for your many squad mates. Some of them were frankly lame. Really questionable decision to go that route, I'm finding it tough to figure out why ME2 was the supposed stand-out of the series without much of a story.

Again, with ME3 the whole combat system is better, the only combat drawback I hate is the same button is used to roll, hide behind cover and activate an object. This makes it buggy and has caused my character to not take cover and die many times. However the moves and powers are cool, and there's much more fun variants of enemies to fight as well.

The difficulty is good, I've died a few times. Most importantly, while I'm still only in the beginning missions, I absolutely love how this game has a story again. You get the feeling of being overwhelmed as you're a small piece in a war that's taking place on multiple fronts.

Annoyed as fuk with this journal in ME3.

It's so poorly done. Every time I open it, it doesn't start at the top but at the middle so I have to scroll up. There's a ton of side missions that don't tell you how to do them, and don't get expanded or updated when you click them. There are side missions that expire and they didn't inform you about this. I'm the type who hates seeing a bunch of active side missions in my list but I have no clue how to do them cuz the game doesn't say. And I hate looking up guides for my first playthrough of a game. I like it to be a natural experience. May just focus on the "main" side missions to be honest.
