Edit: Best he can do I believe is he can either hide or mess up the name/ change the name to '*******', 'troll' etc and possibly hide the neg message if he decides to update the script.

Yeah, nothing we can do to block negs/reps. We could remove the neg notification (I think), so all that you'd notice would be your rep power changing.
1) Its actually a good idea. Could be done in a way that the names of blocked persons on main page show up as random letters/ numbers

2) Would be awesome. With that and the one above we can entirely remove *******s from our Misc experience. (Is it too extreme to have their names cencored too when someone else is talking about them? I know it is doable I got an app that blocks everything about corona/ covid and changes words)


Anyways I dont know much about coding. Thank you for your service nevertheless. Would have never expected from a late join date

The threads should be invisible.

usercp.php can be adjusted pretty easily to just completely remove CP entries for blocked users along with the piece legbroke mentioned “last post by…”

I have considered auto-negging blocked users, but unlike many of the *******s that I block, I don’t auto-neg any user. I only neg based on post content or behavior.

On the censoring piece, it seems a bit OTT to parse every post’s text content to remove mentions. This is rare anyway, usually the user is just quoted.

I'll get working on that. Probably will leave this and the neg-hider as toggleable.

Will definitely get the neg-hider in. Hiding any mention of the user would be doable, but I'm sorta with Lucifer - it seems OTT, and you actually might be a snowflake if you need that.

No, you have to completely overwrite the template script.

Open the pastebin link.
Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C all of the pastebin text.
Ctrl-A, Ctrl-V in the new script.

Then at the top you'll see the list of users to block.

- Completely hides the user's name from 'last post by' when viewing threads in user CP or browse.

Example:

I think at this point any blocked user is officially completely invisible.

The only edge case I'm aware of is if you respond to a thread via quick reply, but a blocked user posts in the time you're writing, you'll see their post.
