Democrats really act like this decision will put a demon baby inside every woman that they must carry to term and die delivering it, in reality you'll just get red states restricting the time you can get an abortion but not outright banning it. I know the thought of being more responsible and not letting it get to that point is scary for liberals though.
Most people probably support 15 weeks, but that's not what the preliminary decision that was leaked was about. It had a reversal of Roe, meaning opening the door for any state to implement a complete ban on abortion. If the actual decision is just that the MS 15 week law is upheld but Roe isn't overturned in its entirety, then that has different implications for how effective the issue will be for midterms.

Late term abortion bans must have an exception for life/health of the mother. You are right that no doctors (at least not any with any ethics) perform very late term abortions unless the life of the mother is at risk. This is also why the far right groups oppose any exceptions in these bills, because the exceptions make the bills meaningless.

Yep that's why I'm fine with leaving it to the states. If california communists want to kill babies in the 11th trimester then go ahead. Alito's argument against roe v wade is basically that it's not the court's job to make law. If people really want something like this enacted then congress needs to make it happen, not the supreme court.

That falls under the unethical doctors exception, and I don't have an issue with banning that. There are thousands more OB/GYNs who would never do that unless the life of the mother is in danger than people like that who would.

I never supported government vaccine mandates. Supporting the vaccine itself is WAY different than supporting the government's right to ram something into your body.

There will be obviously be exceptions for medical situations many already on the books in states. In fact it will probably be an easy loop hole as a doctor could argue virtually any pregnancy is life threatening in theory and any excerptions should be written into law to pretty aggressively and clearly written to dissuade abuse.

For example a doctor could easily say "birthing is life threatening due to potential hemorrhaging in vaginal birth" therefore.. abortion allowed. Lot's of abortion doctors will be out of work and they will start milling conditions to allow abortions if they're otherwise illegal

brb need an abortion because fibromyalgia... brb need an abortion because I decided I'm now a man. Can't leave it up to an easy out medical excuse. Hopefully some strict protocols are developed where it only protects those truly in danger
