I have explained many times you cant really plan your life out. But she right now is making every decision she makes on the idea that first and foremost in this world that she wants to be a mom. And she has that special something. That part of my wife I saw at an early age. It is a beautiful thing and I will be proud of her whatever she does. Some kid will be very lucky to marry her. But he will have to be pretty sharp too. She needs a man strong enough mentally especially to keep up with her. She has not found that yet. Her last boyfriend (who my wife and I love) she broke up with because he was not smart enough. It just started to get on her nerves. (and the kid is not dumb either, he graduated with a 3.6gpa. The school she went to has very high academic standards and she already said it was cool at orientation because she realized everyone around her had a greater than 4.0. She was not 'different' in that way. Again, being smarter than avg makes fitting in a little more challenging. Like me, she was bored of what most people were doing in HS. She has a few very close friends, but does not care to be part of the crowd of sheep.

Understood and agreed. however you keep stating she doesnt want the sacrifice. If its her calling and she is smart enough, its not a sacrifice.....its more of a gift. I just discussed how my sister in law was able to do it and not give up her family life. Im just saying it can be done.

Interesting. I can see your point, but even from a small child, her first calling is to be a mom. I think in her mind everything has to work around that. Going to med school might make having kids mid to late 20's challenging. (what she sees herself wanting to do).

As a person who was once driven by external goals, I have come to understand that many are distractions from true happiness. No one on their death bed ever says, I wish I had put more work in so I got that promotion...etc. I was super lucky to almost get killed when my kids were 5 and 2. For that reason I swore of the pursuit of MOAR and decided to live a simple life. Some might laugh at that, but this is my life 'simple'. I have no employees, and anything I make, I do so of my own doing. I get up when I want and work when I want. I got up at 10 today, my wife and I had coffee and watched the dogs outside off the front porch in our rocking chairs, and it is now 12:45 and I have not even started 'work' yet. (well I did answer one email) Just spent the morning researching parts for the new motor build I am getting ready to do.

I have learned long ago as a parent, that your kids are their own people. She is still very young and things may change. I am trying to coach her on building wealth even starting at an early age. Our goal is to have her buy her first property right out of college. She started saving in HS for it. Already has 15k saved for down payment. When she graduates, I am going to give her the cash for all the scholarships she earned. We never once asked her to work like she did in HS. She could have graduated a year early, instead took a full college load AND worked 30 hours a week. So since I always planned on paying her school, I feel she has earned that money. Pretty damn proud of her actually.
