I knew an older guy who was a bad alcoholic. If he drank the night before, he would start shaking like crazy by noon the next day. Felt really bad for him. Very kind man, just too far gone in addiction.

I take 600mg 2-5x a day.

They’re used off label for alcohol and benzo withdrawal.

This guy isn’t wrong. Source: i have a cert in SA Counseling(don’t use it, moneys trash) and have worked at a facility for outpatient for 2 years(left a year and a half ago cause of pay). I didn’t prescribe, but I handled them.

All that to say, I wouldn’t just **** with meds unless prescribed. Go to the ER. Srs. They’ll IV you. You’ll stay for a few days. They’ll check your vitals and(good ERs) should have resources to give you for when you’re discharged.

If money is an issue, look for sliding scale, especially if you don’t have insurance since you aren’t working

The sooner you get a handle on this the better but you’re beyond just tapering. Even if you did, you won’t stay sober man. I know that’s harsh, you’re a cool/funny poster but you have to be real. You need counseling/support. You can’t white knuckle it. Some can, but I just don’t think that will work for you.

Damn. I'm very lucky i don't have the gene that gets withdrawals. It's in my family. I was drinking beer 10 years every night. The last 5 or so was mixing shots in between beers. Probably 12-15 a night. Stopped cold turkey and nothing happened. Best decision ever. My sister and my roommate nephew also drank heavy daily 10 years and they joined me 2 weeks after. No withdrawal symptoms. Crazy.

It's been almost 4 years.

i have a dinky breathalyzer thing that i actually think is accurate-ish

was just .18 and feeling like death before this current beer

no clue how i'm even managing to get this drunk because i can't physically drink that fast anymore

i've created a new normal baseline that involves being drunk but also feeling like death

not ideal
