Can't even imagine playing Rebirth without playing with either of them. Made Cloud my tank+ splash, Tifa for individual DPS and Aerith my caster.

Tifa is brutal and helps a lot, but Barret offers better tanking and capability and has with range, with helps with a lot of bosses and enemies which can fly.
Honestly I wish they had a 4 man party. 3 member is just so lame.

I was a young lad. Only picked up the disc cause I liked the art and the sword.
And at first I was like wtf is this game. But then I gave it a chance and then my siblings got into it too and the rest is history. I remember the first time I beat Emerald weapon.
These are things newcomers won’t understand. The game at the time was truly revolutionary.
And here I am many years older. Picking up the remake as a full grown adult living on my own.
It’s just wild.
I will savor every bit of the game and try explore every nook and cranny. Absolutely no rush to beat it.
Also I am ride or die Aerith. Her voice acting and personality does me in. Tifa is more like a side piece

Barret also builds ATB and stagger super fast. Im starting to put him in for bosses but open world is the threesome

Then I went with entrenched defense set up to have trebuchets to get a sustained attack on the boss tower outside my boss with a couple of ranged catapults in my base for defense ... If you go with just melee or rangers, then they're gonna die from the boss's attack or get disabled by him.
My trebuchets at the end came in clutch and won me the match at literally the last second.

if you have saves from intergrade dlc/demo you get a few extra goodies. The Yuffie dlc is pretty great as it is so it's well worth a play imo.
But yeah, you dont reallyneed to play it and just continue it.

IYKYK that bongo hates open worlds with a passion ... But I gotta, this is probably one of the best open world's I've played in a loooooooong time. Yes so far in the first two regions there are some typical busy work stuff, but none of that feels egregious or meant to be wasting your time. They all save a decent purpose and it's not too long nor constantly in your face with a million icons and things to do.
The fact that the world is absolutely gorgeous, the open world stuff isnt tacked on and actually comes with some decent level of story/cutscene helps so much in keeping me engaged with it. Even the sidequests are a huge improvement over remake and any FF game (especially FF16, which were atrocious) .... In this game they actually give you some interesting stories and tie it into other characters making it feel worthwhile to complete.
Not sure how it'll carry on as I progress further, but right now the balance of open world stuff / sidequests is extremely good and the fact that you can kinda travel between regions makes me think that they aren't timebased so you can always come back to do em later.
There's a lot of QOL stuff here too.
