I believe Iran needs a reform over a long period. Revolutions are too destructive and risky.

The Ayatollah is very smart, which is unfortunate because their system of rule is not good.

It's strange. The US kept military bases in Japan, Korea & Germany. However, in the case of Afghanistan you got bored and had to leave.

Reality: The Taliban out played the US in the long game. The beat the US by not playing how the US likes and the US got tired of it.

Your country would have been much better off if they had remained friends with the US instead of going full retard.

As far as china and india, youre looking at growth and then extrapolating… that isnt how it works. Japan in the 80s went through insane levels of economic growth and everyone thought it would overtake usa by the mid 90s, except it didnt.

Stagnation buddy. The cracks in chinas economic models are already becoming painfully obvious.
Iran has been in a very unique and unfortunate position over the last 100 years. It has been sandwhiched between Islamists/theocracies in the Middle East and Communists in th Soviet Union. Unfuortunately this means that Iran has been influenced by both ideologies. Both of which are frankly terrible.

In terms of did anyone force Iran to allow an islamist government to take over? ofcourse not. As I said it is influenced by two poisonous ideologies and both of these combined to overthrow the Shah of Iran.
However external forces can be blamed also. Both Mosadegh and the Shah who were forced out of power one way or the other. The Isalmic regime however are essentially survivial of the fittest because they are very difficult to dislodge on account of their religious military force.
So Iran went through a turbulent time where external and internal forces tried to take control of the country, until a group who could most survive in power came about. Which ofcourse would be the most extreme group.

If Iran had been left alone I expect we would have seen a much more adaquete form of government and leaderrship.

As the world becomes more interconnected those nations with the largest populations will become closer correlated with total GDP ranking.

India and China will both overtake the US economy in time.

Not really, the US wanted to stay so they stayed and there was nothing that the Taliban could do about it. The US tried its usual nation building thing but of course that was never going to happen there.

So they funneled an ungodly amount of taxpayer money into private pockets.

So why do you think it will happen in Ukraine?

Actually, yes. The US backed the Shah to the point the radical Islamists were the better choice for the average Iranian.

You know..the US coming in and having no fukkin clue about what's going on, and makes things worse?

I meant Biden and Poroshenko's leaked call regarding building a free and democratic Ukraine and the Galician Ukrainians pushing for Ukrainian nationalism and trying to force a common language and revised history on all of Ukraine. Putin isn't nationbuilding. He's just trying to assimilate the Russian Ukrainians. Ukraine is the one trying to nationbuild at the behest of the US.

Don't think it will happen in the foreseeable future. Sure, the Ukies will probably get tons of funding etc for recovery whenever this war will be over and the pro West/anti Russian sentiments will be higher than ever, but at the end of the day they were still one of the poorest and most corrupt countries in Europe even before they have had to deal with six digits dead/injured numbers, millions of their people displaced/emigrating and whole cities and regions turned into set pieces from the Moon landing, except they will have to keep digging up unexploded crap for the next couple of decades.

Which causes one to ask why we ever backed them. Had we sat on the sidelines and pledged not to expand NATO and allowed Yanukovych to be replaced by an election, while condemning the racist language laws, Russia would have had no reason to attack, and Ukraine would be doing fine today.

Why wouldn't the US back them? Finding further justification for NATO and protecting/further deepening US interests in Europe in exchange for pennies and absolutely zero risk to American lives is a pretty ****ing awesome deal.

This. We spend about a trillion per year improving military capabilities to stave off Russia and China. 50billion to expose them and cripple their country is the best fiscal conservative way to do it.

Europe is our bitch via the EU, theres no reason to further ties with them. We blew up germany's gas pipeline and what did they do about it? Nothing. Hell of a thing to not only spend that much money but also alienate half the worlds population into an alliance against you and all you get out of it is something you already have

Southern Bakhmut, the 71st Jager Brigade looks to be stuck in a cauldron. Maybe they can fight their way out or another Brigade or SOF (closest) can push back the Eastern swell trying to encircle them.

Scary stuff.

Its okay, when they all die ukraine can give conscription orders to farmers, mechanics etc to replace them. The retard crew has convinced me this is how winning works

Iraq 2.0, but maybe with a bit more grace since people may be watching more closely, and this isn't us going in to break everything in the China shop.

Sure if you're going to attack them immediately.

The response is for them to turn into a much stronger and technological military. They've now committed to churning out advanced materiel which will bring them a closer conventional threat to the US. This will last at least a decade.

What will we do during our next conflict? Watch Russia hand our enemy advanced weaponry and kill our soldiers?

I'm not sure why anyone cannot see through their impulses and concern ourselves with our own business.

Skeptical since ISW has been the only ones to map it. Not seeing strong Russian claims either.

Offensive don't work as non stop movements. City or key town is taken, front stabilizes after that. Kherson wasn't that long ago and one of the biggest humiliation of the russian armed forces ever.
Next town will be Kremina, which is key to Severodonetsk and Lyssytschansk while Vatniks still cope about Bakhmut.

Prigozhin commented on a video that has circulated for a few days, the Beast reported.

In the video, a Wagner fighter addresses comments to the Chief of the General Staff of Russia's army, Valery Gerasimov: "You are a f------ m-----f-----," he said, per the Beast's translation.

"We have nothing to fight with, we have no rounds," he continued. "The guys are dying for us there, and we're f------ sitting here, not helping. We need rounds, we want to f--- everyone up.

"We are fighting against the entire Ukrainian army near Bakhmut. Where are you? It's about time you help us. There's nothing else to f------ call you except m-----f-----!"
