Only way to get a trick is to commit to it and take some slams.

Slamming is a big part of skating...maybe the biggest part. If you are not willing to eat sh*t, you will not progress past the basic stuff.

It is the repeated smashing yourself into the concrete and getting back up right away to keep going after it that makes a skater...not how complicated the tricks are. The more you get comfortable with the understanding that every single skater you see has taken multiple slams for every trick they've got, the more willingness you will have to get out there.

People will give you props for taking a slam on the most basic sh*t because they see you are committing to your progression. That is one of the most fulfilling parts of skating...we are all in it together. You could be skating next to a guy who can switch nollie back-tail a ledge and he will give you props if he sees you land your first flat ground, non-moving ollie.

No judgements if you're trying dude, just get out there.

I remember this era. Funny how times have changed. Now you have ghetto hoodrats in Vans and Metallica shirts. Just goes to show that most people dont really have preferences, they just pretend to like whatever's in style.

I'm old as fuk now though, but fuk it, I'm going to learn. I've always loved skating and the social aspects to it.

Are skating shoes truly necessary? And when it comes to buying a board and all that other stuff, what are the necessary essentials?
Although it’s an exhilarating and fun activity, skateboarding can result in serious injuries, so aside from wearing a helmet, I pop in these skateboard elbow and knee pads from Gonex as an added precaution.
Safety comes first but style is a close second!

I wish I could skate again but I've been slammed more times than Bam Margera
