Mirin hard (srs).

Semi-poverty CEO here, just about to start a big expansion of my business - hopefully I'll be on your level one day!

I'm fairly lucky as running my business has zero overheads (work from home on computer). I would probably chit a brick if I had to buy stock on the hopes that I could shift it all. What do you do with overstock - or is a certain amount of overstock calculated in from the outset?

Also, I too have the misc to thank for my success due to following a matched betting thread I was able to acquire the funds to buy a beast PC setup to fully make a go of my business (3D graphics).

Usually I post sarcastic, bitter responses on the misc, but I have to tip my hat. Congrats. Kudos for replying to people as well. Hope the health thing doesn't get you down too much.

If only I had an ounce of your drive/ambition. But I couldn't just sit on that amount of money - I'd be at the bottom of a pile of drugs and hookers.

He bust his balls, found a niche that worked for him, didn't spunk hard when he got his first large sums of cash and was smart enough to keep putting back into the business, also having balls of steal that any successful businessman needs ultimately brought him to where he is now.

I bought in bulk a product from Aliexpress that I think has an audience and will sell well. Created a one-page landing page on Shopify and hired a videographer to shoot a product intro vid. Ran a few FB ads with zero success. Contacted a few magazine reviewers and influencers on Instagram, but response has been somewhat muted. How do you think I should proceed next? I understand from the info that I told you, you may be thinking that the product probably suck. But it doesn't. It's actually rather cool, fulfill a niche, and everyone I talked to about it seem to think its a good idea. I think I'm just terrible at the marketing aspect of the business. Will really appreciate any guidance here.

Can you share more specifics about what the product is?

You need to test your ideas with a small audience and gather feedback in order to understand why it's not selling.

I know you're targeting this to the OP but I'd still like to help.

You're the reason I started my own business. Then got murdered by Amazon ads and haven't been able to get back into it since. Basically broke even. Just don't have the funds right now to try again but I do have a LLC, contacts, reviews, feedback, etc. for when I do go back.

Without revealing too much on what the product is, it's a safety product targeting urban bicyclists that share the road with cars.

I've asked around and shown the product to several cyclists, and they all agree it's a cool idea and fill a void. There are other products that share similar concept, but sells at a much higher price point.

Setting aside bias, this is not a product that will sell 10k units a month. However, I do think that the demand is there. I would appreciate any guidance you (or Shayz) can point me towards from a marketing standpoint. I'm willing to spend money, but so far I've spent hundreds of dollars on FB ads with very disappointing results.

From the 30,000 foot view you provided, here are my suggestions:

-use Google as your bread and butter; prob a good idea to hit up ShayZ or someone who is experienced in SEO and marketing through the Google platform; i think FB is a relatively newer way to market online, and i personally do not click on any ads when i'm on FB

-be professional but relentless in getting the word out to influencers; expand the number you've reached out to and continue to follow up once every two weeks with a quick and simple message to see if they've tried it out, what the feedback is, etc. - persistence pays dividends

-walk into your local bike shops and speak to the manager/buyers there; give them a sample or two and get feedback from them

Who hosts your website - shopify/woocommerce/magento etc.?
Who do you use for your merchant account to process CC payments and what is your rate they charge you? Since you move so much inventory where you able to negotiate your rate?

I don't doubt that there is a large number that do. But in situation, if FB ads haven't worked, there has got be an underlying reason.

I started something similar but in a different tech side I accumulated around 5-10k in a week but I got burned by my supplier. Anyway I could message you a few question about restructuring and getting a solid plan that has less risk? I was drop shipping

It can't be great if you bought it in bulk on Aliexpress.
