The more entertaining part is watching people to try to attach things as to why it’s happening.

Nice to see the market back up this afternoon! With this dip I personally have been feeling it was likely a short term event. You never know, but that is how I have been felling about.

The previous dip after the Fed had raised interests a measly quarter point and the market went bonkers had me more concerned.

It was just an excuse for libs to try and take a shot at the economy. Since the tax bill has been a success, they need some way to worry the uninformed masses. I mean, everyone watching the markets knew a pullback was coming, it's amazing how rattled people get these days. Society is soft.

Soros better be careful. If he keeps losing billions and billions of dollars in the options trades business he'll soon be down to Donald Trump levels of wealth.

I like how each side has their billionaire boogeyman. For the liberal side, it's the Koch Brothers; for conservatives it's Soros.

Sometimes these bouts of volatility last a few weeks so it may not be over yet. Lots of shorts also cover when they feel the fear start to wane, which leads to a dead cat bounce.

Tomorrow will likely not be a good day to buy.

But glad we got the extra $1.50/week in our paycheck now. That's gonna help a ton when people lose thousands of their retirement in the markets.

Dow futures are taking a bath. Down another 400-500. Asian markets dropping like a rock too.

Thanks too the tax cut for dumping gas on an already booming economy. Boom! Protein everywhere!

The party circle jerk in here is unbearable. Most of you know better too.

I have said it before and I will say it again. The president has little control over the markets. Taking credit and/getting blamed is just playing the partisan hack game. Typically GOP is good for 3-5% market increase due to more favorable business policies. You could even make a good argument that Trumps tax plan would push it higher.

However, we are still 2 standard deviations above the mean P/E ratio and that should raise the hairs on the back of your head. There will be a crash/heavy correction some time. Most of you are 20-40 years old and will go through several more crashes before you need to worry about it. Figure out what you need to deposit into your retirement account and do it with out fail. Stop trying to time the market. Stop trying to pick stocks. Just get your Total Market/S&P 500 index fund and let it do its thing.

I've been pounding my fist against the "get your index fund and let it do its thing" investing strategy for awhile now. Buffett was right about index funds outperforming actively managed funds - sure. But now everyone has started tossing their money into these vehicles. More and more money is pouring into ETFs and it's becoming insane. More and more ETFs getting created and more assets being dumped into them. Even some of the actively managed funds are nothing more than index fund closet investors. Problem is, this is starting to create an inflated value of the public equities market. It's essentially its own bubble that is inflating the overall market. However, because these funds are diversified the overall "crash" won't be as severe as we usually see. Nevertheless, it's going to create a certain level of problems with newcomers looking at a passive investing strategy.

There are still great opportunities in the stock market - both on the long and short sides. This type of "bubble" has created anomalies that investors can capitalize on if they are looking hard and doing enough substantial research.
