I've been experimenting with making my own PWO for about the last 6 months. After trying a couple different combos I am now using Caffeine, creatine, 2:1 L-citrulline and malate, and beta alanine

The Bad: Have to measure and mix individual powders into one drink. Bad taste

The Good: As effective as the mid tier PWO's. No shyt chemicals added. Cheap (around .35/serving)

If you have the room for the calories, add powdered Gatorade for some flavor. Or maybe try something like Mio

Why does it taste bad? Use a caffeine tablet and the creatine, citrulline, beta alanine shouldn't have a taste. You could also just take the creatine and beta alanine at other times of the day in whatever random (flavored) beverage, such as a protein shake, milk, juice, whatever, since they are saturation ingredients that don't offer immediate/acute effects. All you're really taking is caffeine and citrulline where timing matters

I should've specified it's more of a chalky taste/texture than anything. I usually mix with grape juice or OJ and it's good to go. The handful of times I've had to mix with water it was pretty shytty. I dump everything in for my pre and just take it then so I don't have to remember to take other individual things throughout the day. I am definitely happy with the results I've seen from using it so far. I started off with Arginine but wasn't really noticing the advertised "pump". Switched to Citrulline and it was like opening the flood gates. Messed around with different doses of B-vitamins but never noticed much difference other than getting the flush.

Pretty sure the citrulline has kind of a sour taste to it.

Might be the specific product you are using has impurities etc? I use Kaged Muscle l-citrulline and taste is so mild that mixing it in anything with any flavor at all makes it impossible to taste.

I Just put 2 grams in about 2 ounces of water after I read this post and it had a little bit of a weird sorta-taste to it, but it wasn't much and certainly not an issue.

I don't like that chalky texture and taste of mixing separate ingredients either. Supplement companies have gotten pretty good at coming up with flavors that cover up the nastiness. I've been liking Pre-Kaged and Kraken for the past year or two. Kraken has a lot of interesting and different flavors. Pre-Kaged is a basic fruit punch but drinkable.

Perhaps it's the malate? It's enough of a taste that it's weird in plain water, but not really noticeable in Gatorade.

I don't remember off hand what the name of the brand is, but I had some bulk supplements (which might even be the name) in a white bag from Amazon.

Stopped at a LGS yesterday killing some time and saw they had a PMR-30 in tan in the case. Been on backorder/allocated with distributors forever. Said hell with it.

Printed a copy of FFL and use tax certificate, handed to sales staff and walked out with it. Now to find some 22 mag ammo

that gun has a weird weight to it. Its ultra light weight and feels like even the internals are made out of polymer (i know it isnt).


i was just thinking of what i'm going to do when i get the Sig Paur P365. I'm going to immediately get some quesadillas with sour creme. bring all of it home, then take a picture of a quesadilla dipped in sour cream WITH the p365 right next to it.
