-Home would be in excellent shape given the repair budget.
-Car payment of 6k is 2 nice, new cars at all times. These people would get rid of their new cars after 3-4 years. It is stupid to have a car payment with that much free cash in the first place. Let's cut it down to 4k so that they can still have 2 nice cars that they use for 6-8 years.
-Life insurance is a form of savings/investment.
-Over $400/month on "children's lessons", wot? Let's reduce that to a very reasonable $250/month.
-Gas consumption is absurd (400/month). You'd have to be driving around two pick-ups as commuter cars to spend that much. Let's cut that to a very reasonable $250/month.
-Charity? Let's call this savings instead.
-Consumer debt when you have this much free cash? Absolutely ridiculous assumption. This will be savings.
-8k on 2 vacations? That is absurd. People use credit card rewards and deals to greatly lower vacation expenses. Let's call it a not-even conservative 5k.
-Not even going to touch the high clothing, miscellaneous, or food budgets.

Savings:
"What's left" = 5,700
401k = 18,000
Mortgage principal = 21,000
Car payment savings = 2,000
Life Insurance savings = 800
Children's lessons savings = 1,800
Gas savings = 1,800
Charity savings = 2,000
Consumer debt savings = 3,000
Vacation savings = 3,000

Total Savings = 59,100
Net income = 127,400

Savings rate = 46%

If this family had 0 savings right now and kept this same savings rate, they would have a working career of less than 19 years before they could comfortably retire. Meanwhile, they'd be living in a 625k house and pampering their children.

I used to think the median was low as fuk until I really learned how to be frugal.

Now I can save easily 50% of my after tax income, and will retire in about 10 years at age 41. Really confuses me that people with higher income than me are still working @ 50 lmao. What retards.
