I went to a great public school in the burbs. Great academics, great athletics. A school really is only going to be as good as the comminity behind it. If it's a bunch of students from broken/chaotic homes w/parents who don't gaf it is going to look like the video in the op.

All the people saying he should have called admin earlier or the principal have no clue how most schools work.

If I call someone in to take a kid out of my room sometimes they don't even show up or they take way too long. We have constantly complained about that issue and many other major risks and nothing is done about it. I will go weeks without even seeing my principal.

If this exact situation happened to me and I got the kid taken out of class it would be a lunch detention and a "I talked to him about being disrespectful" and that'd be all that happened to the kid. They would certainly not be expelled like some of you seem to think.

Feel bad for the teacher because I have been in plenty of similar situations, but you can't do what he did. Usually what I will do is act as nice as possible to them and ask them really nicely to leave and tell them to have a great day. A lot of times that frustrates the kids even more. There have been times where I have lost it, but I didn't ever get physical. Worst I have done is tell a kid in front of the class that everyone in the room knows he'd never have the balls to talk back to me in an alley because I'd beat the hell out of him (he was tiny and I am a bigger guy).

It is extremely frustrating sometimes, but I am generally pretty calm. It can also be very rewarding because I have had kids that have come from nothing and work insanely hard to overcome the lives that they were given.

sadly in these types of situations, it's never the kids fault, always the teachers.

So I looked into this story a little bit further and it seems pretty clear cut that the teacher has been abused verbally and physically by other students, including the one in the video, over and over again for several years. The Maywood school district has been completely incompetent and the administrators have failed to take any action backing their teacher. This has apparently been an ongoing issue for a long time and it is logical that he snapped. Mr. Riley seems like a legitimately good dude who put up with so much politically correct bullchit from his employer that he just couldn't do it any more. The gofundme is legit and was set up by a colleague. The student doesn't seem to be facing ANY disciplinary action whatsoever. The only mention I've seen was that "supporters of Mr. Riley are pushing for charges to be filed against the teen." That is just people talking. I also haven't heard a single mention of that scrawny pussy who jumped in and hit Mr. Riley from behind while he was being apprehended by security. Both scumbag kids should be punished but THAT kid deserves an assault charge more than the teen who threw the basketball and called him slurs over and over again.

It's evident the school district is plagued by the same mentality that has been taking over schools all throughout the country for the past 30 years. This quote from an article about the fight really rustled my jimmies:

"Crisis counselors and extra security will greet students at Maywood Academy High School Monday morning, after a weekend of outrage over a music teacher who was arrested for fighting with a student."

Reall? Crisis counselors because an asshat kid got punished for assaulting his teacher with words that should never be spoken, and an object that can cause concussions? This story is really evolving into, or remaining, a hugeness injustice against Mr. Riley and I hope he can find happiness at the end of this all.

Every music teacher I've ever met or had thru school have always been the most chill fun teachers too...

Hopefully it ends up being a blessing for this guy...get dafuk outta the chit ass school and chit ass salary
