You're correct in the fact that technically that is all he really did. However, as you stated earlier we need to look at things in context...This is much worse than filing some bogus theft claim trying to collect insurance money or something commonplace like that. This was an elaborate hoax designed to literally take advantage of the masses for his own personal gain. I think I read somewhere that he did TV interviews before it was discovered this was orchastrated himself and he was crying and chit playing this pathetic victim... If true that's one seriously sad excuse for a human being...I'm not advocating some sort of super stiff abnormal legal ramification, however the guy should be ostracized by everyone who did support him if this comes out as a confirmed hoax.

But From what I’ve seen - Filing a fake abuse report is a Class B misdemeanor in Illinois. 6 months jail is the max and a fine. Basically the very definition of petty.

Could make the argument that he is guilty of “conspiracy to _____” but idk the Illinois law and if this fits that.

Also, I wish I worked at Walgreens. Prob get good discounts on candy.

This guy ruined his life big time. The lawyers are gonna suck away all his money. He hired a pr firm which is gonna eat his money. He ain't going to get another acting gig again and has no other skills to make money. If theres one good thing about this incident it's that it can now be used as a meme for the next "hate crimes" that occupy the news. Maybe some politicians and networks will just wait a little bit before throwing all their chips in on a story. This story has had more traction than the previous ones.

Not going to happen. Voices of reason are no match against madness. It started here with the Salem Witch Trials and it'll always repeat itself. All the news sites are saying he's being charged with a felony. "Filing a false police report is disorderly conduct, according to Illinois code. A class 4 felony is punishable by one to three years, the code says. " (CNN)



Furthermore the FBI obtained warrants and are searching his emails/computers/cell-phone. Homeboy invited the man into his life and they are going to be looking to charge him for anything they can. Maybe they'd have let him slide with a BS misdemeanor charge if he'd made some other kind of claims. But he manufactured a hate crime, hired people to be involved, etc. The FBI got involved lulz. I wouldn't be surprised if before this is all over he ends up getting more charges, possibly even federal charges.

Even if he works something out in Chicago for the false report, that doesn't apply to any federal crimes he may have committed.
