Because Conspiracy Theories exist in order to distract unsophisticated people. I don't mind because it makes my job a lot easier with less competition, but they're terrible for overall society.

It's fine when someone asks questions about a particular mainstream narrative on any given subject, and can provide at least some degree of reasonable arguements as to why they question what they do. Some "conspiracy theories" are a lot dumber than others.

For example, the flat Earther conspiracy stuff is just so absurd at this point, that it's not worth entertaining their nonsense. In fact, it's been absurd for hundreds of years now. You can literally get on a boat and sail across the globe. It's not hard to understand why the Earth would be round. Plus we can see the moon, and even several planets from Earth with the naked eye. They're all circular shaped. Why would they all be shaped in a circular manner if they were flat rather than round? And if you want to explain that by saying maybe some of them are round, then why would Earth be so exceptional as to be the only flat planet/moon object in the solar system? Just thinking about space in general, how can you even fathom a planet being flat while making any sense of it? That's not even going into more scientific explanations of it, of which there are many.

So yeah, some conspiracy theories are just outright stupid. Some others are slightly less absurd. A "conspiracy theorist" can also lend to their credibility by not being overly hardcore and religious about any given conspiracy theory of theirs. It's one thing to question certain aspects of a narrative. Getting religoous and fanatical about going against the grain just ends up making you a contrarian moron.

You cant prove most things beyond a reasonable doubt. You can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the Chinese bat flu is worse than the regular flu, or that it will lead to staggering death tolls. You can't prove that social distancing will reduce or eradicate it. You can't prove that most people dont't already have this sht anyways.
