It really doesn't matter if he shot first or not. Cars blocked in with protestors. Dude comes up on him with an AK, from the stills I saw looks like at a low ready towards the driver, dude gets lit up. Driver can easily articulate he was under fear of being pulled out of his vehicle by an armed mob.


Though from the sound of the video, the guy with the rifle shot first.

There is also a signficant delay between shots. So ak shooters behvaior afterwards even if he shot at the guys car does matter, it wasnt fast enough for self defense IMO unless GArret stayed active, pointing gun, menacing etc

Just kind’ve skimmed thru the vid. Who was black dude yelling at? Hopefully he was calling out all those idiotic white people in the damn street for being stupid because he already knows his live matters.


I don’t like the fact anyone got shot but how many videos of this type of thing happening will it take for these fools to get out of the street and quit bum rushing someone’s car when they blow their horn so they can get by?

I hate to say it, but it was only a matter of time before someone unloaded on one of these crowds. How long did people actually think everyone was going to put up with this? Especially in Texas of all places. Surprised it lasted as long as it did before this happened. The only thing shocking is more weren't shot tbh.

I only skimmed the last page so no idea how informed I actually am, but I'd open fire on someone approaching my car with an AK in the middle of a mob not letting me through too.

even if that were true, what's the legal baseline requirement for self-defense in an open carry state?

did the driver simply have to have reasonably believed Garrote wanted to shoot him ? pre-attack indicators?
or did Garrotte have to be in the act of raising the barel of his gun ?
In an update on July 26, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said reports indicated Foster was carrying a rifle when he approached the suspect's vehicle. The suspect then shot out of their car at Foster, according to APD. Manley said that the person who shot Foster called 911 to report that someone had pointed a gun at his vehicle and that he fired at the person pointing the gun. That suspect was detained and cooperating with officers, police said Sunday morning.
driver did claim Garotte pointed the gun at his car, don't know if he claims Garotte fired though.
