In the first season he let an entire plane crash killing hundreds he could have saved easily - plus prevented Maeve from saving even one child. So I'd say that's pretty evil.

Only watched the first 3 episodes so far. Where the f*ck is Maeve? Need more of her. Homelander killing it as always. Got a little nervous they were going woke in the first few episodes but I think it was mostly satire. Thank God they didn’t pick the Muslim chick or black chick to be a member of the 7. Last thing we need is more diversity push in this show. Glad to see the Deep back.

So far I don’t think it’s been as funny as it’s been in previous seasons. Hope it turns it up a notch over the next 5 episodes now that Homelander is done letting others call the shots on him. That sh*t was lame, thought it was gonna ruin the damn third season for a minute
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Spoiler!
I wanna know how Crimson Countess disabled Soldier boy to give to the russians. I think Black Noir must've helped her

He is brainwashed by the company and did not want to disappoint the female executive.

He went to the plane with the intention of doing something positive.

Banshee has a similar theme to The Boys.

The actor plays a mentally broken kind of person who has to mascarade as a good guy while life goes off the rails.

I like to imagine it as an alternate universe Homelander story.

I loved Banshee though, it was a very engaging show.

Homelander is absolutely, unequivocally an evil piece of sh!t and the villain of the comic and TV show. All compelling villains have motivations / reasons for being who they are. So much so, the trope of anti-heroes became very popular in the wake of Tony Soprano and Vic Mackey. (And long before that, tons of anti-heroes across cinema history.)
But Homelander isn't an anti-hero...he is an anti-superhero by virtue of being a superhero. But he does not represent the anti-hero trope in that you are NOT supposed to root for Homelander. In contrast, you ARE supposed to root for Walter White (and over time turn on him.)

Homelander is absolutely the antagonist. Even the big twist in the ending of the comic book didn't render him innocent.Spoiler!
It means he turned into a fukking psychopath by mistake.

If you want to see an actual villain with a redemption arc, check out the UK series Utopia. One of the characters in that show goes from absolutely evil to nuanced and heroic. I won't even say which one, it'd ruin it.

I watched the American Utopia and then couldn't deal with seeing the same story in the UK version. It has a lot of positives though.

The deal with Homelander is that he's not evil but rather twisted and brainwashed.

For instance, there's lots of cheapskate Republican types on the misc who would turn people down for healthcare because they have no money. Meanwhile, there's PLENTY of money to fo around AND our money is a "Fiat Currency" which means it has no value. So, we can spend whatever money and nothing real is lost.

So, are Americans who want to cut other Americans off from healthcare and other things evil?

No, they have been brainwashed into thinking poor people are scum and money is worth something.

Homelander is the same way.

The show keeps implying that if Homelander had the things he wanted he would not be a mean and spiteful person.

Villians:

There's a lot of comicbook villains who are rotten just because that's their personality.

Lex Luthor is a massively smart and privileged person and he can't stand Superman because he is not Superman. He's not a sad abused person who is mean and frustrated.

Pretty hilarious honestly but I can do without having dude ass and dik shoved in my face in every show these days.

Probably talking about the Starlight talent show where she does Britney Spears. Plus the entire Inclusion Land thing making fun of Disney.

People who can take it for what it is, the Boys is actually making fun of these things. Poking fun at BLM through A-Train, poking fun at Disney Land through the Woke-Wok and similar attractions, grooming/netflix with the britney spears thing, etc.

Edit: The scene with A-Train and his brother, talking about how A-Train is trying to connect with his people. Then his brother calls out how stupid it is and then one of their neighbors was profiled and killed for no reason and A-Train acts surprised but in Season 1 A-Train literally kills a white woman and no one cared. It's all pretty meta.
Also first season with the Deep forcing Starlight to deepthroat his dolphin and swallow his tadpoles. Seth Rogan's nod to his former best friend, Franco.

Lex wants to rule the world and a guy like Superman will always be a threat to that.

So basically there is no bad or evil people in your mind. Hitler, just misunderstood. Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc. just didn't get enough hugs from Daddy. They just all needed some love and kind words said to them and all would be forgiven and they would stop their ways and become saints?

I'm fairly sure he thinks Butcher and the gang are the evil ones, since he referred to them as fascists.

I agree.

However, all of that just makes Lex and bad person.

In Adlerian Psychology he would be considered kind of a failure as a person. Lex is a super genius who could make inventions and so forth what would make him as popular as Superman, but instead he wastes his time trying to best someone that really has nothing to do with him.

So, Lex is on the wrong path too but he no one brainwashed him like Homelander and so at the end of the day he's bad at being a person.

Joker is totally insane.

Many villains are either insane or rotten controlling people.

Someone like Homelander did not have advantages where he could have done whatever he wanted but made bad choices. Even in the show now he's stuck on this company like there's no other way to live. So, he's like some kind of abused child vs a sinister calculating person.

A bad/evil person is someone who KNOWS what they are doing is going to hurt people, and they do it anyway.

So, I have spent my whole life helping people like prison inmates, abused kids, and so forth. I could sit here all day and tell you about the impact that poverty, abuse, and so on has on people.

So, you would assume that I would never hurt another person on purpose.

But, if I decided to start abusing some kid that would mean I have FULLY informed choices about doing that. So, I would 100% know I'm going to f@ck this kid up mentally and physically. So, if I got caught doing that I would have no defense.

It would mean that I am evil and set out to hurt someone that I knew I would hurt on many levels.

Meanwhile, the typical ped0 got molested when they were a kid, convinced themselves it was a good thing, has all kinds of beliefs like "The ancient Greeks did it" and they are a crazy and twisted thinker who doesn't understand the impact of their actions.

So, they are more like a disease than an evil person.

Hitler and many fake Communists believed that if we kill certain types of people, the Earth will be better when they are gone. It wasn't just them who thought this but many of their associates. They all had enough experience to know that people dying and getting killed is not pleasant and has a traumatic impact. So, they chose to do that anyway, and so they are evil people.

Hitler was in WWI so he already knew that exposing people to harsh conditions isn't pleasant. Many of his associates had the same kind of experiences. So, they weren't tricked into thinking war and slave camps are pleasant, they knew, and chose to do it anyway.

When you DON'T KNOW the difference between right and wrong, you are not bad when you do wrong.

That's what GROOMING is all about. It's leading a kid to think bad things are good things and that's what happened to Homelander.

The show spells it out.

You are too stupid to engage in discussions and always try to shut them down.

Why do you post?

If you can't respond with an argument, you probably don't know how to, and are stupid, and should not be watching a TV show you can't pay attention to.

GTFO with that Flanderized horsesh!t.
Wrong. He is evil as fuk you retard. Doesn't matter he was raised in a terrible environment, he murders anyone he can't control. He dropped that family in the car for absolutely no reason. He made the Deep eat a living creature the Deep could communicate with, just to spite him. How can you legit think like this? You are retarded.
Why are you injecting politics into this specific discussion about Homelander? The fuk is wrong with you? You are delusional.
The entire point of the show is superheroes with too much power becoming narcissistic lunatics, drug addicts, serial killers, sexual deviants, and so on. That behind the scenes, the heroes are actually the villains. That was the entire point of Garth Ennis deconstructing the superhero subgenre.
You didn't even read the comic, did you? You'd rather compare Homelander to Miscers who are right leaning. Moron.
Holy fuk are you a stupid son of a b!tch. Homelander is evil and you're retarded.

Why are you lying?

You're on record saying that you used to go on reddit to spam your autism about HL being an antihero and getting the same responses. You have also claimed that the show is about Jews and that The Boys are the fascists.

You're too narcissistic to admit that you're wrong, and you're waaaay to autistic to let go of things. You are literally running on negative reinforcement, like all autistic contrarians do.

I and about a dozen people have explained why you're completely wrong - I mean the story isn't exactly ambiguous about the characters -, and you have nothing to say except walls of incoherent gibberish that have nothing to do with the show or Homelander.

You are utterly insane, I'm saying that in the medical sense, not merely an insult. This isn't the first, second or fifth time you're doing the same shtick where you pitch the most retarded take humanly possible, and keep doubling down even when facts are laid out in front of you directly refuting your insanity.

It's like saying that Vader isn't actually a bad dude, because he was "brainwashed" and manipulated by Palpatine.

So Homelander, Hitler, Mao, etc are not evil because / if they are too stupid to realize that killing and torturing people hurts them? Honk Honk.

One would have to be a literal retard to not realize that actions like these hurt another person. And when someone is clinically retarded, most of us will get them some grace and just lock them up in a hospital and not want them dead because they don't have enough brain cells to realize what is happening in the simplest terms. But people who are "smart" enough to function in daily life are completely well enough to be 100% responsible for their actions.
