It seems like the worst luck in the world to jump in the ocean and instantly be eaten by a shark. But it actually seems like that might be what happened.
Even if it wasn't a shark, anyone who isn't a complete idiot should be able to understand that sharps follow boats, especially party ships that are constantly throwing food overboard. They have been conditioned to associate ships/boats with food. Oftentimes fisherman toss buckers full of chum overboard to attract fish, guess what else raw chum attracts besides harmless fish? That's right, it attracts sharks.

So just because you can't see the sharks easily in murky waters at night from the video phone footage doesn't mean they weren't there. They also said those waters were well known to be shark infested, and I highly doubt the passengers were completely unaware of that.

I want you to watch this clip below. Pay attention to the bottom of his left sole of his foot....as it goes down....NOW....

pay attention that his right foot sole which never breaks the surface, you would see the bottom of his foot....instead you see a large gray triangle breach the water. you see a gigantic gray triangle come and bob its head up out of the water. the shark consumed his right leg...thas why you don't see his right foot sole/leg again.

then you see the kid's head going down, like hes being pulled downwards. Shark got his right leg and swam downwards pulling him underneath the surface. just pay attention to the vid. someone was kind enough to slow it down for the morons of the world like yourself.

EDIT: I can't break this down any more...I realize it is hard to see the shark (esp if you are lowIQ to begin with). there are even better vids other than the one above of it online though)

Pretty much this. You could maybe argue that it wans't a shark at 9-10 secs taking him under. But theres no ****in way you can argue it wasn't a shark at 2-3 seconds on the surface. Dood looks straight at it and swims away from his only like saver, the dingy. Because the shark is there. JFL

sad part is, The sharks probably didn't even eat him, they probably took a couple bites out of his leg realized they didn't like it and just moved on. If he had trouble swimming due to the current, having a massive chunk of your thigh bit off wouldn't help.

those odds are based on swimming at a beach during daytime, not jumpin off a boat at peak feeding time in the middle of the night lol

Once blood is in the water he would have gotten mauled by several dozen sharks taking bites

Exactly this, also the odds don't take account frequency. If you're paddle boarding twice a week off the beach, you need a whole different set of odds.

I'll take your word for it - I have no idea how sharks attack.

Like I said, I can't see this shark ppl claim to see (I can see indiscernible objects or waves or other things that ppl claim is the shark, and maybe it is the shark, I just can't say definitively). But most definitely the kid quickly changes the direction he is swimming, and I do think he actually disappears (it sounds like some sloot thought current was dragging him down, which is why she yelled "the current").

Yeah that's counting all the bathers who are wading in ankle deep. If they only counted people swimming out past the breakers the odds are a bit higher.

And if they only count people who dive off a boat in the middle of the ocean...lol.

Again, it was the middle of the ocean, at night (prime fish feeding time) on a party boat that had invariably had people getting rowdy and chucking food overboard. Just because you have a hard time making out 1 shark on someone's footage they took in the spur of the moment in the pitch black sea doesn't mean they weren't there. Besides all that, it was well known those were shark infested waters.

As another miscer already pointed out, they probably didn't even eat him entirely. Most likely, he lost a chunk of a leg or something, making it all the easier for the current to take him away. With or without the sharks, he was screwed from the moment he jumped off the boat.

NPC personality, no inner conscious speaking to him; teens do retarded things(myself included) but it never occurred to me to jump off a perfectly good ship
Few years ago their thing was jumping off hotel balconies into the swimming pool... 3rd story, 4th story, 5th, 6th - whatever. 5ft deep pool didn't matter either.

And they'd film themselves because "Oh man this is SO kewl and is gonna get me SO many social media likes!"

But I saw the one vid of the dumbass who landed short, and the second his feet left the balcony I knew he wouldn't make it. And sure enough, he landed on his ass on the concrete, and then just kinda slid into the water. Dude shattered his pelvis and his lumbar spine.

But so kewl though..

Yeah, I'm not arguing. I'm saying even if I can't see a shark, it is def plausible. He clearly got spooked and I do believe he disappears (as opposed to the camera simply just being a potato).

Ok usually I’m skeptical and was expecting the “shark” to be a random camera artifact or wave or something for 0.0001 seconds, but after rewatching it that definitely looks like a fuking shark, I with 90% certainty.

The odds are skewed since they don't account for the fact that most people don't swim in the sea on a regular basis let alone in shark infested waters. The odds are probs more like 1 in several hundred for people who swim in waters with sharks on a regular basis.

I thought he just drown/hypothermia, etc’

But, it wasn’t a massive cruise ship
There’s claims they turned around to get him

And the fact the kids swam away from the preserver , as if he saw something
Makes me think there may have been some sharks

1. For those saying “the people on the boat didn’t see the shark, that’s why nobody shouted SHARK” …if they didn’t see it from a “Birds Eye” point of view then presumably the guy didn’t see the shark from a level point of view? It’s difficult to see what’s underneath you/infront of you at surface level in the ocean, especially when it’s dark (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wFhqmL...NoYXJrIGRyb25lfrom the 2:40 mark there is a lot of people surrounding this shark and nobody can see it and they’re at the same view this guy would’ve been at) the point I’m making here is those saying “he swam away from the buoy because of the shark” may not necessarily be true because he might not have even seen the shark because there might not even be one. The video above proves it’s not always easy to see things in the ocean.

2. Miscers ITT saying the shark pulls him down…..isthere any evidence that this is how sharks hunt? They grab their prey and pull them down into the depths? I thought sharks take chunks out of you instead of grabbing you and pulling you down?

3. Is it possible he just hit a rip which is why he got dragged so quick?

4. The 9-10 second mark where people seem to think a shark grabs him…..is it possible this is reflecting light? We’re not exactly looking at a 4k 120fps video with optimal lighting here so I think we need to take that into account too

5. The first part of the clip on the left hand side near the buoy sure does look like a shark though

I’m not saying he wasn’t killed by a shark but logical answers to the points I’ve raised would be interesting to hear and discuss

if you've swa, in the ocean you've likely swam within 30ft of a shark. They are a a near constant presence and we are seeing more of it as drones become more popular.

Imagine being the kid(s) that dared him to jump overboard...

Its a life time sentence of feeling like a garbage human being..

A lot of people that have been involved in a similar circumstance have ended up roping themselves because of the guilt.

Its the Bahamas, waters are currently 80 degrees, there would not be a chance of hypothermia - in fact its probably colder on the boat. Maybe in January thered be a chance...

Already been addressed as far as audio (late page 2 and 3) - we suspect its edited out. Listen to it closer, there are 2 people who say "theres a shhhhh" and then it gets clipped either by the video panning around like a rodeo clown in a barrel or a real after the fact editing of the audio to cut it out intentionally.

Cliffs of the whole situation:

- Intentionally jumping into the ocean in the middle of the night is stupidly dangerous any way you look at it.

These idiots watched movies like Titanic a few too many times and decided to underestimate the ocean because they saw Jack casually floating along on that old board with the chick with hypothermia being the only real concern they had in the film.
