OP he's right. Yea you're owning your own time at the expense of not being able to actually use it freely. I'm not even rich or a high earner and yet I could basically do most things on a whim with almost no thought about it financially. You can't OP. There's a saying that comes to mind that kind of goes like "Poor people have all the time in the world but no money, people with money have no time to spare."

Time means nothing when you don't have actual purpose. Imagine being a productive citizen in society and not just a consumer. You're letting your laziness and cowardness guide your life to cope with being poor and lazy.
I would feel disgusted and emasculated if I had to depend on my wife financially. IDK how some "men" can do that.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

No it's not. There's two main points here.

1. Having time but financial restriction isn't as free as you think. Even if he works and makes 40k a year instead, he can slowly build a bit more wealth as he ages to generate actual freedom.
2. Purpose. Oddly enough the most bored I am is when I have time off with nothing to do. It isn't often anymore but when you don't have a purpose or a set of goals for your life you end up completely unfulfilled. I can't imagine just being like a neet or wanderer in society.

So let's say I only cared about my time and freedom. Why wouldn't you just start a business doing what you love and build on it over decades? If he can live on such little to no income, why isn't he a woodworker or something? What purpose does he have as a man? What value does he give?

It just sounds like that redhead fake hillbilly singer trying to cope about being poor and how he's really got it better than the rich man.

I enjoy the fuk out of my time. My job is literally to thinker with expensive electronics. It's what I've been doing my whole life for fun. Plus I can do all the things I wanted as a kid but my parents couldn't afford with all the kids in my family. BRB renting out 2 bouncy castles and a bouncy slide, attaching a sprinkler to them and having a party / water gun and ballon fight.

I honestly could not do it. It really would be such an emasculating thing. Men these days really are becoming pathetic.

I choose to work because I don't do all that much, have complete autonomy, and it affords me all the nice shyt I want. I choose to do that with my time. He can choose to not work. But him coming here and "bragging" about slumming it on $12k a year and trying to troll people with productive lives is just a joke.
So I basically make around the same as you a year without lifting a finger. But I live on less than half of what I make, pay little taxes, and the rest is reinvested. But I think the bigger point being made by these threads is that some people don't have to spend a lot to live. Sure I could go out and buy a rolex, a Porsche, and a bunch of other chit I don't need. But what's the point? I'd rather have the money in my account than a bunch of stuff to impress people. I have a family member that brags about just going and buying stuff and not even looking at the price. I love that family member, but he sounds like an idiot to me LMAO

A long time ago I was friends with a dude that owned a large successful car dealership. He had nice stuff, but he was fairly frugal. The best piece of advice he ever told me was that, "It's not always about how much you make, it's about how much you spend."

No, you would make the same as I do if I also didn't lift a finger. I made about $210k this last quarter. Here's the thing, I can post pics of my bank credits, but only if you'd like.

You're talking in absolutes when it's only your opinion and/or preference. How much money is enough? I mean, I assume that you're going to retire one day. When will that be? When you have enough money? Or when you're too old, tired, and weak to work. Notice my join date and my post count, there's a reason for my absence. I worked my ass off for the last 12-13 years. I did it with the specific reason to retire by 50. I retired at 48 because I beat my goal by 2 years and my finances were where I wanted them to be.

I'm don't feel unfulfilled at all. I have plenty of hobbies and things to do. I'm busy everyday, but it's doing what I choose to do. If you're bored with your free time, that's a you problem, not a me problem.

I don't know, I can't answer for OP. But in my case, I don't want to start a business. I consider "purpose as a man" is doing what you want in life. I give value to myself. Doing what another man tells you to do is not "purpose as a man", it's because you need your paycheck from him to buy groceries and pay the rent. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but your goal should be being self sufficient as soon as possible. Just working because you think it's your "purpose as a man" is cope.

Sounds good on paper but it doesn't work irl

Almost everyone I know is busy all the time, with their gfs or family during weekdays and work, weekends is when most people wanna do chit

So that's what 5 days a week where u are rotting by urself ? While everyone else is working ?

My apologies sir. I misread your post, I'm working on a guitar and having a bourbon right now. So if I understand correctly, you would make the same as me if you made the decision to retire like me. So we're at the same place with the exception that you choose to continue to work and make an income. I ain't mad atcha bro, I'm happy for you. Get that chit up to 10 million. We just have different goals in life and that's perfectly fine

No worries, and yeah, everyone needs to decide what they want and adjust their life accordingly. OP comes here with an uppity attitude and a better than thou demeanor while his woman being gone the bacon, and that's what I have an issue with.

You've replied to ME thousands of times. I've obviously worked you into a months long tizzy that put you furiously on the defensive because a random person on a forum says it doesn't take that much money to be happy once work is eliminated from one's life.

Such a simple statement yet it has consumed to your life to the point of name calling, lying, exaggerating and obsession.

Sounds like I'm close to a checkmate with you.

Your life revolves around a job.

My life doesn't.

You can't pay me enough spend the rest of my life not owning 100% of my time.

I never retired and said "well this is what I have to spend"

On the contrary -- I simply added up the cost of everything I WANT TO DO and thus had a ballpark figure of what my expenses would be in retirement.

Some of you are coping by saying a person can't possibly be happy without a job and whatever material items you THINK they can't afford (but probably don't even want so it's irrelevant).

Now take this ownage knowing that my logic is flawless and you're just another name on a king list of people that attempted debating meh.

1. What makes you think a retired person that lives on far less than they make can't grow their income? My income has increased every year since I was 10-11 years old.

2. Why does one need to be controlled by a job to have purpose? That's a slave mentality.

Why do I need to be a woodworker? I'm a business owner, investor, parent, and retired individual that is perfectly content doing what I enjoy for as little or much as I please.

Cope harder.

What did I say that's uppity and better than thou? You obviously hate work and your life is unfulfilling...and you're taking it out on others.

What's wrong with walks alone? Is that one of those "poor people" things? Why so agitated?

I don't think I would call eating a bread sandwich over the sink in the middle of a heat swell whilst having no AC, middle class.

I hate everything. But I would really hate living like you.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I don't know how old you are. But one thing I will say is that once I got to a certain age and money level that I was comfortable with, I had worked over half my life. And last I looked average life expectancy is around 75. So in my circumstances it made sense to enjoy the last 1/3rd of my life on my terms. After 30 years in the rat race I got burned out.

I'm actually grateful because the majority of people will work well into their 60s or 70s while living paycheck to paycheck, neck deep in debt, and their retirement will not be pleasant existence. There are probably many people in this thread that will experience that existence
