rollerball, you approve of that price? $2500 surcharge for a paint job. And for that kind of dough you'd think they'd source a chrome tip for the switch instead of a plastic part that costs a few cents.

Does Jersey Schmoe have such popularity to warrant that insane upcharge? Frigging insulting.

30 years ago easily but today? No idea. I was surprised it's basically his old 22 fret model with a chrome finish

This acid trip announced at NAMM retails for $8500.

Yeah Vai added a bunch of unnecessary chit like the monkey grip, the “lion’s claw”, the last four scalloped frets which is meaningless, and that annoying swirl paint job

Considering how quirky it is it's hard to believe it's been so popular and it's nearly 40 years old.

That Universe from '90-91 is pretty special. An old friend had a few of them so he'd often let me borrow the white one. The neck is wizard thin but quite wide.

I've never owned a white guitar but I always wanted one for some reason. Vai, Jeff Beck, Malmsteen. I should probably buy a white Strat and call it a day.

White guitar with gold hardware played on the White Sands beach wearing only white linen and drinking white russians.

I have an RG350 that I bought back in '98 that was white with the white pearloid pickguard. It kind of looked like a white Jem without the monkey grip. After 10 years I got sick of it, disassembled it, and sanded it down. It sat in pieces for years. Eventually I got it done. I was going for the burnt stained blue Jem look. Still need to get some new pickups in it.

That's a unique look especially with the matching headstock. Ibanez had a "burnt transparent blue" JS around that time which I thought was pretty nice for basswood. What's the stock trem like? I prefer how the old necks had no stripe on the back.

Spoiler!

Yeah, it came out more green than blue. I think the tru oil topcoat added a little yellow to the final color. It was an uninspiring 5 piece basswood body. I had to do some strange staining and sanding back to make it look halfway decent. It looks like the Swamp Thing to me, lol

The stock trem was a Lo TRS II, it was decent for a few years until the knife edges started to go. I just keep it for spare parts for the trem on my 2001 LTD. For some reason back in the late 90s and early 2000s they put lo profile Floyd copies on a lot production models. But at some point all the companies changed back to the original style Floyd. For this Ibanez I just got a Floyd Special and upgraded it with stainless steel hardware and a brass block.

i'm gonna have to get a LP boys. i loved my PRS ce24 years ago and I figure that's what it's based on. and i'm not a fan of PRS guitars anymore, too fancy looking. i like the subtle class of a LP without a pickguard

Any of you guys ever use sound dampening in your home guitar playing rooms? if so, how much and to what effect and was it worth it?

Started looking at sound proofing, then realized you can't sound proof without tearing the walls down or building floating walls and floors **I am not doing all that** so started looking at sound dampening/diffusing panels just so it sounds better for me, and if it helps kill a little noise for the neighbor thats just a bonus.

I am buying a new house and the houses in this neighborhood are downtown and closer to each other than in my current suburban house so started down this rabbit hole.

Anyone done anything like that? Looking at the ATS Acoustic panels specifically right now.

Howdy RT….here's my take.

I've done lots of recording over the last 45+ years and I hate a live room to play or record in.
I desire a near dead room for all intensive purposes.

I've never spent any real money in this context and I've been doing this a looong time.
If it were me….I would just uses 'rugs' as suggested or even just some gifted, unused or inexpensive drapes/curtains that don't have holes or look like shvt.
All that is needed is to diffuse/dampen those first wall reflections.
Curtains have always done the job, they're very light and easily changed out.

Good luck with your quest.
Hope that helps….

If you want to play at a loud volume don't buy a house with close neighbors. My closest neighbor is about 600ftso I can play loud. It was a selling point of the house.

Bridge post holes were drilled too far to the right. Only workaround would be to fit new saddles and cut slots that move everything over to the left. OP was asking if he should keep it or return it.

A plugin nobody asked for. Quad Cortex owners must feel like Neural is trolling them at this point. They promised years ago their plugins would run on it.

My original idea for the opening tracks for ‘Houses of the Holy’ was that a short overture would be a rousing instrumental introduction with layered electric guitars that would segue in to ’The Seasons’, later to be titled ‘The Rain Song’. Again there would be a contrasting acoustic guitar instrumental movement with melotron that could lead to the first vocal of the album and the first verse of the song.

‘The Seasons’ was a memo to myself as a reminder of the sequence of the song and various ideas I’d had for it in its embryonic stage. I’d worked on it over one evening at home. During the routining of the overture now titled ‘The Plumpton and Worcester Races’, the half time section was born and the overture shaped in to the song, ‘The Song Remains The Same’. These rehearsals were done in Puddle Town on the River Piddle in Dorset, UK.

The first set of recordings were done at Olympic Studios with George Chkiantz.

We then came to record at Stargroves, Sir Mick Jagger’s country home, and, like Headley Grange, with the Rolling Stones recording truck.

‘The Song Remains The Same’ was played on a Fender 12 string, the same one used on Becks Bolero, with my trusty Les Paul number 1 on overdubs in a standard turning. The ‘Rain Song’ was an unorthodox tuning on acoustic and electric guitars. On live shows, it became a work-out feature for the double neck.

Before Suhr there was Tom Anderson. Tom worked at Schecter and actually cut parts John Suhr used for his builds working at Rudy's Music.

Lord have mercy the finishes on these guitars are incredible.
