Those Jeep feels. Mine never left me stranded but the constant electrical gremlins were just too much to handle. Mine was old as chit though and I think the electrical problems got sorted out in the mid 00s

Someday when the kids are through college . . . I'm going to buy an older Jeep just for screwing around in. Always wanted one. Probably will end up being like a boat, but we'll see.

For anything where reliability is a factor with the 4wd, I'm just keeping the Xterra forever.

That 4.0 with the Ansin Warner AW4 and dana axles is as solid a drivetrain as you'll get. Its just everything else you have to worry about. If you just need it to run through a trail your gtg its the people who've tried to daily drive the things that run into trouble.

More importantly, you can tailor what you're loading. You can load 124g flat point projectiles and use a fast powder like Titegroup. You end up with ammo that 1) recoils WAY less than factory 115g, 2) will do more damage than round nose in a SHTF scenario where you're needing hundreds of rounds, and 3) is way cheaper and easily stockpiled as raw components. You can load all hollow points for around another 1.5 cents per round. So $115 per thousand.

Thats just 9mm. I'm getting into 45 reloading and the cost is just nuts. Like 14 cents per round- like 40% the cost of factory.

On my 650 I'm making around 600 rounds per hour. Case prep is nothing. You toss 500 rounds in a tumbler and walk away until it's done. Filling primer tubes is a little pain, but if you buy multiple tubes, you can fill them watching TV and have them all set for when you're actually going to get to loading.
What setup do you have and how much did it run you? I'd kinda like to get into it a little if nothing else just to know how to do it in a pinch or something even if I didn't end up using it constantly. I didn't think you could save quite that much compared to current prices.

LOL, funny you mention this, because my Sig owning (hammer fired at least) Jeep driving friend has been complaining about a few problems with the Jeep he has to deal with the last couple weeks.

I've only flown 1st a few times . . . all with upgrades when I was traveling a ton more. But they were all hops between Denver and San Jose. So it was definitely nice to have the added room and pampering, it didn't last very long. Would definitely be far more enjoyable on a flight longer than 3 hours.

Anymore, if you don't travel a ton, there are so many people who log a truckload of miles that it seems really hard to upgrade anyway.

When my company sent me to Sydney several years back, I wasn't upgraded or anything but it was off-season for travel down there. So I was on a 747 with the entire widow row to myself all the way down there. Got to take all the room I needed and stretch out to sleep. Wasn't quite as empty on the way back, but I still had some extra room.

Installed ice scratchers on my second (Wife's) sled yesterday. Took it out for a test rip today even though the real feel temp is -12F. Trails frozen solid. Scratchers up the engine temp was running at 145 and no snow getting to the rails to lube/cool them. Scratchers down engine temp was 120 and plenty of snow and ice in the rails

I’m pissed. My kids go to a daycare that I pay for. Half the school is made up of government funded kids or whatever whose parents pay nothing. The kids are separated.

The government kids got this amazing indoor playground. My kids can’t go in there and they instead get some chitty room with junk they have to play in.

My kids teacher was mad and said that the people that pay like us pay for all the teachers and most of the facilities. The government sends money for the playgrounds for the kids that don’t pay and that’s about it. Like 20k a year. I personally paid probably 14k last year and my kids get junk.
To me, out of a usable barrel length (11.5" preferred/default, but down to 10.5") 5.56 is 'better' because afford is affordable and ammo and practice and training are what's better. Also logistics of not adding a new cartridge and having to keep magazines separate from 5.56 etc
good points. Would do black mags for one/ fde for other, and diff color rifles to differentiate.

Regarding adding a new cartridge, I used to think having a variety of calibers was better. However, I'm leaning towards having fewer calibers and stockpiling more ammo. On that note, may shoot all my .40 and sell the glock 23. Use that $$ for more 9mm. Or do I just keep it and a couple thousand rds? dunno..
The concussion of a rifle indoors in a smallish room is probably pretty terrible.

But, even if you go the opposite direction, short and unsuppressed (ow, my ears and sinuses), there's an argument to be made for it as well (I'd still choose 16" with flash hider, or suppressed SBR)

mJCg9CCAJyI[ /youtube]
Instead of picking the video apart, I'll just say I disagree. Reminded me of Joe "double barrel from the balcony" Biden home defense tips. lol

I think a coworker still has a 300 pistol for sale, might see if I can borrow and test fire in my houseMay end up just doing another 16" 223 though. Putting together a budget AR 308 in the meantime. Have to grind down the top of the circle thing (I'm tired, what it's called lol) on the lower because it's interfering with the charging handle :/

Been too busy with work to post. Haven't even rode my new kawk yet (needs inspection/tags).
