Since you're saying the gorilla enclosure isn't safe enough because a 4 year old can get past it.

If you take your kid to a basketball game and they wander out into the court and get a knee to the face by one of the players mid-game that accountability would be on the parent.A 4 year old should not be able to make it into gorilla enclosure, and yes, that applies to all zoos.

Why does there have to be a bad guy in this? Why can't this just be an unfortunate situation?
Let's say the gorilla killed the kid and the zoo didn't do anything. Would you guys still say the mother needs to be shot? Kids escape their parents all the time. What about kids who die because they rode their big wheel onto the road, fell in a pool, got smashed by a TV? Should those parents be killed too?

I'm not sure if civil liability is the same in the U.S. but in Canada if, say, a robber slips on your front doorstep on the way out from your house because it was icy he could sue you for not keeping your property safe. Even though that's the law I still think it's retarded and in that situation the robber (who should not have even been on your property) should be held accountable. That's the argument I was trying to make.

A mistake is forgetting dry cleaning and having to go back out and get it.
A mistake is NOT forgetting you have a child that you need to watch out for and that could be hurt or killed because of not paying attention.
Once again, your logic is stupid as fuk.
Child endangerment charges should be brought on the mother, and she should have to pay disposal fee for RIP gorillabrah.

do you know EXACTLY why the child went missing? or are you presuming it was sheer negligence - the difference between blatantly ignoring your child and being preoccupied something that could have garnered her attention - where the child could have slipped out then? Just throwing a scenario at you. What if she had 2 children and one fell of out a stroller and she went to tend to that and the other quickly got away? maybe she should be punished but should she die?
and upon what basis do you have to discern that this mother should be punished? are you stating that there's an objective state of right and wrong?
what's funny is that you not knowing the answer to my first question is quickly painting you as someone with a pre-conceived bias and probable hatred toward other people

Terribly sad situation. They did what needed to be done, can't risk trying to tranquilize the gorilla w/ the kid there.
I agree that a four year old kid should not be able to get into the gorilla exhibit, and legally I agree w/ what you're saying, but fuk that mother... Watch your damn four year old.
