Why do they give MORE money to people on welfare when they have MORE kids? That's what I never understood. They should be having less kids if they are having trouble working.

My point is, there is waste in all aspects of government spending. Lets look to clean it up as much as we can. Technology is to a point where it can help out tremendously, the pivotal fact really is the people and the process.

People get so concerned feeling like "those people" are stealing from my paycheck because they are lazy. Well guess what, a lot of different people are "stealing from you", and they are not just the "fat people wearing jordans that have nice cell phones" that are.

Knowing that, I choose to control what I can control, which is my financial health and my family's security on a micro level.

The thing is, I want what is best for these people and that's to take personal responsibility for their situation and to take control of their lives by being responsible. I've said multiple times in this thread that I'm not against a safety net, but we've done everything possible to make this a lifestyle for people. By allowing this to happen, you are crippling them, their development, and it's an unproductive deployment of our tax dollars. Any Google search will show you that over half of the government spending goes to entitlements so I'm not sure why people are saying so confidently that it doesn't. By crippling these people through welfare, we make them dependent on the government (read Democratic Party), and create an entire class of perpetually poor and uneducated families. If you argue otherwise you are just blind to the facts. Military spending makes up less than 20% of the governments annual budget for those of you going that route

You're obviously unaware of Hattiesburg. Jonathan papplebon, and Paul mulhalm also live here. There's a university here called southern miss and that's where farve played. He's from the coast which is about an hour from here

Ye it's shocking. The rules are just completely fcuked up. There is no way that working 21 hours should mean you get a lower income than working 20.

im friends with a single mom who was in this boat, but she finally got a decent paying job.. now she has to do a 'hearing' of some sort to get off benefits, funny how bloated the system is... and none of the workers are paid for performance so they all drag ass and are unproductive

no, totally different - employers pay into a state-wide pot for unemployment, and its based on your previous income and how long youve worked.. that system is paid for by employers, not tax payers

Well, you're in canada and I'm in america. I'm talking about the American system. I have no idea what happens up there in Cuckanada. That being said, you look pretty old and have a kid in your avi; you telling me you don't have enough savings to make it until you find another job? We all pay into it, so it should be able to be used for its intended purpose, but my point itt is in America it is a social taboo to use the system because it is so abused that it's connotation is negative.

I really want one poster to explain in detail what they mean by "corporate welfare". Corporations pay tons of taxes and do society a favor by providing jobs. I'm interested to hear someone actually explain with some logic/facts what the problem with corporations are
