Doesn't matter if they have a hundred people or a billion, if the vast majority don't give a single phuck about olympic sports or the olympics themselves, then they're obviously not going to win a medal. Pretty sure a large % of India's population are rural and severely impoverished, trying to become an olympic athlete is pretty low on their list of priorities. Also, let's say there's a good young sprinter, unless he's rich as fuk, there's virtually no avenue for him to get the proper support and development, unlike other poor countries like Jamaica (look at Usain Bolt's youth history).

Simple things such as poverty and discrimination in India automatically discounts the vast majority of their population.
