It's not a trend. Crossfit is a trend Zumba is a trend. Powerlifting is a lot older than you are mate. It is phucking annoying tho having someone on a platform doing pressure point and weird band stretches for hours on end. Do that **** at home *******s

Translation:

OP goes into gym with spandex and a tanktop, realizes he doesn't lift as much as neckbeard brahs. Makes thread about how stupid neckbeard brahs are.

Pats himself on back. None the wiser.

I like legit powerlifters, jacked strong af guys just getting after it with no fanfare

But OP is right 'powerlfiting' is a trend now and its ghey
Lots of dadbod young guys with all the gear walking around with their feet pointed out and thighs spread as if theyre huge

I had the unfortunate luck of being at an amatuer powerlifting meet the 2 weeks ago and geez what cringe
The sloots in their lifting suits and socks up, constantlly checking themselves out in the mirror
Strutting around

Face it you legit powerlifter guys, your humble sport has become part of the lame fitness culture

No, it is him. He created a new account.

Anyway, OP is correct. Wannabe powerlifters are very one dimensional in strength, and selfish when it comes to monopolizing equipment at gyms.

tbh man even though some people are cringey about it. It's the fact that more people are performing the compound movements like squats, benches, deadlifts, and overhead press which makes it a success in my book. Those are the main exercises that should always be performed if you are trying to get in better shape or build muscle whether or not you are competing, or even maxing out.

I think if more people are learning the proper way to do those lifts and better themselves that's all that matters, so if seeing a couple lifting videos on IG or whatever gets someone interested and gets someone to try squatting for the first time I think that's awesome.

Of course there are idiots who don't bother learning technique and will just show up and try to rip 405 off the floor because they think it's badass, but for the most part if they are serious about getting involved they will understand that it's more than just a charade of trying to be hardcore. It's those who don't understand that who people will be cringing at.

Went to the Arnold a couple years back to see this guy lift. His session was at like 2:30 and the bus dropped me off like a mile away at 2:20. So I just took all the crap out of my pockets, held it in my hands and ran a mile to the XPC arena. Met him in the prep area, out of breath, wished him luck and he failed at his final attempt.

OP might be on to something, PL'ers are cringy.

When I'm in my deadlift pregame my mind is sometimes "what would Kyle do with this weight???"

The answer is always the same, rip it off the deck like a bandaid off a scab.
