10-14" of snow expected tomorrow. Let the snowpocalypse commence!
I will of course be going to work because our office probably wouldn't close if it was on fire. In prior companies they would always shut everything down but this industry of full of ex MIL/LE types that don't cry every time it snows.
2018 goals for me are mostly revolving around training. Money will be tighter because we're in the market for our first house. But I can still train my ass off. Hoping to fit in the 5 day pistol instructor course and 5 day patrol rifle instructor course. After that I want to move onto the Sig master instructor courses for both pistol and rifle. I don't have any aspirations to teach but in this industry it's a resume builder and it gives me some goals to chase. The standards to pass master instructor are steep. It's usually a 60-70% fail rate and requires a 5 day instructor course from us or another legitimate organization as a pre-req.

I may live in GA but I grew up maybe <20 miles from Lake Michigan. The amount of $-MONEY-$ areas up there spend to handle the snow is significant. For big snows it was always a hot news item to have plow counts, video clips of plows, interviews with plow drivers and all the mandatory OT and how they don't get any sleep because they have to keep going, how many millions of tons of (okay, however much) salt and sand etc they have on hand to put down...it's quite a production.
There are other places that don't typically have to deal with weather like that where that kind of expense just isn't logical, so when they get hit, there isn't really anything to do about it. Not to mention that I'll bet the ground up there in MA is nice and frozen, and further, I'll bet that the roads don't thaw in the sun in the afternoon and then freeze again as slick as **** ice overnight.
Just sayin'

I always switch over to winter tires around November. I like driving in the snow so it's no bother to me. But your average office types get pretty whiny about it. Maybe my experiences are the exception but among my friends that I graduated with that went the corporate route I'm usually the only one going into the office every blizzard.

Well...if it truely is blizzard conditions where a foot plus or so is expected, fast, i wouldnt want to be out in it either. Especially corporate business. One mistake, youre in a ditch, and no one is coming to get you for a while.
