In Australia there's constant whinging about house prices, what's said is that almost nobody can afford it. But in 1985, around 70% of homes were occupied by people who owned them or had a mortgage on them, and in 2016, around 70%... so people are affording it, somehow. But also in 1985, 25% of women who were married with dependent children did paid work outside the home, in 2016 it was 65% - so the household as a whole had more income, and could afford to bid higher on houses. In 1985 the average new home in Australia was 171 square metres, in 2016 it was 231, so 35% bigger. And with the bigger homes came fancier furnishings, fridges with icemakers and internet, dishwashers and heated towel rails and all that.

i make a bit more over 100k and still live at home, which is probably why my net worth is several times the size of yours(that is if you have any net worth at all).... enjoy paying of your mortgage until youre 60 like a peasant

I didn't have the luxury of having a stable household or biological parents who had their **** together. Still angry to this day as an adult. Divorced and both went their separate ways. Abandoned the kids (my older brother and I) when I was younger. One would understand anger and seeking vengeance.

In my country the people with backgrounds that have very strong family values (Greeks, Italians, Macedonians, Croatians etc.) will all live with their parents and have their tuition paid for and everything paid for until they're set up with a full time job and have a family on the way and then they do it for their kids and so on. However its always the white people (i am white) who complain about the the break down of family values and then you expect every parent to boot their kids out at age 18 while these cultures that support their children until they're ready to live a successful life seem to be doing it right

It's not just eastern europeans, south americans and asians also have strong family values. It is just the west that has a family abandonment culture. Parents kick their kids out when they are still teens and kids will abandon their parents in nursing homes later in life.

That's because that's either a million + home or in liberal state. Probably both. That's not an accurate representation of property taxes at all. If the taxes alone are 24k your dad must be making 200k plus so I'm sure he's doing okay.

i'd gladly pay for my kid's tuition and other bills if they were going through med school or studying to be engineers. they are on their own if they are on that liberal arts degree nonsense.

I see this quite a bit, even in people that are responsible with money.

the cost of living is increasing, rent is increasing, insurance is increasing. Compound that with an entire generation that were conned/brainwashed into going into debt for an education that is a dime a dozen. starting out life 40/50k+ in debt is $550+ per month, god forbid something bad happens such as medical bills or large autorepair/ time off of work, etc.

People can easily move out making way less. I’m saying it’s in their best interest to live rent free for a while longer. You’re an imbecile if you think it’s financially smart to move out and pay rent for no reason whatsoever before college grads at least pay off their loans.

I guess I have bias because the majority (all now that I think about it) of people who moved out at 18-20 to live with their friends haven’t advanced at all in their lives yet. All live month to month still waiting tables

I'm glad me and my fiance do alright. She is in the Airforce and with her pay(including single rate BAH) and my income we are over 120K. About to move in together in Fort Walton Beach Fl. We can live pretty comfortable.

One thing I don't understand is how young adults ages 19-25ish complain about not having jobs. I mean granted yes if you have 0 skills it maybe hard. But it's pretty easy to find a 16-17$ an hour job. Not great money but throw in some overtime an you will be ok. People have gotten lazy....period.

Military comes with GOAT benefits package too. Free healthcare/dental, GI Bill if you decide to get an "education" etc.

Some ppl are just more fortunate than others. Culture is another to take into consideration.
