oh i know and this is just me as a non parent acting like i know what i'll actually follow through with but just the basics of not keeping a ton of junk in the house, eating only at meal times, fast food as a treat not a normal meal etc. I don't come from a fat family by any means and half my fam is self conscious cause they think they're too skinny/frail with the other half feeling fat despite being "healthy" by most peoples standards. Both sides got some deep seeded self image issues for whatever reason so i guess i'm gonna have to marry a gym rat just to keep the trend going, don't want young ayyy too comfortable.

There are some really good points in this thread, that I can't go back and find to quote everyone that I agree with. I think it's multiple reasons. Sedentary lifestyles. Technology making it super easy to live a sedentary life, fast food/ easy access to prepared foods which are high calorie/high sodium/high fat, and fat acceptance. Lack of knowledge regarding proper nutrition, and as others have mentioned in the last couple pages, not knowing how to prepare healthy meals because they can't cook.

I am fortunate enough to know what I need to in order to prepare healthy meals and stay physically active, yet, it's still tough because dang, I'm tired AF after working all day and running a household by myself. Thankfully I am motivated and I actually love to work out so as much as I want to sit my ass on the couch every night and veg out, I make myself get up and lift. I can't imagine how much harder it is for those that don't know F all about nutrition, don't know how to cook and don't particularly like exercising. How do we get an entire nation back on the right path when it's gotten so off track? I don't know the answers, but I hope that at some point people wise up and take their health seriously. I try to lead by example and encourage people, but I can't make them change. They have to want to change.

Parents.

They drive their kids EVERYWHERE these days, feed them chitty food on the regular and don’t encourage physical activity (would rather have them home “safe” playing video games for 12 hrs/day).

Sedentary lifestyle, lack of fulfillment, and ease of access to food.
