So I'm in Fajardo (tiny marina eastern tip of Puerto Rico in sight of virgin islands) almost 20 years ago. Typical Caribbean marina crowd, Sunday night. My best friend and I are in PR on boondoggle business trip, staying with our local contact. Start talking to the people in the bar and everyone is happy. I give a 100 to the bartender for house drinks til it runs out, everyone drinking Heinekens. I finally meet this crazy Russian dude with Albert Einstein hair. He was a physics professor (I'm an engineer) and so we're talking and then he tells me his story (which I can barely understand due to accent).
He was in Chernobyl teaching physics when they had the meltdown. Docs told him he has two months at most to live. He builds a sailboat out of aluminum (WTF??) and takes off down the river (Pripyat/Dnieper) that goes by Chernobyl. By the time he has the sailboat finished he's about out of time and figures he's going to be a goner and have a viking sendoff. He loses every hair on his body and every tooth out of his head.
He's floating downstream and gets to the Black Sea, still not dead. He hits the Mediterranean, still not dead. He floats all the way across the Atlantic - no papers, no destination in mind, and lands in Puerto Rico at Fajardo. He's been there ever since. His hair grew back and he said he's never going to cut it. His teeth did not grow back, lol. He has no passport, no papers, just bums around the marina. He no **** lives in that aluminum sailboat bobbing just off the bar.

Imo it's much better if they talk with british accents than with a fake cringy russian accent. I think it would distract too much, since it would sound pretty comedic, and ruin the atmosphere.
Also holly chit @ the rotting bodies. I watched chitloads of gore and phucked up chit on the internet but that was disturbing.

I wonder when they will introduce the gay couple that seems to be seen on every modern drama/series made these days?

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.
