^^ another reason I miss the early/mid 2000s is because Federer was in his prime. Literally the GOAT and most spectacular tennis player I've ever seen. Nadal and Djokovic don't even come close IMO

In 2001 he was nowhere in the rankings & only got into Wimbledon as a wildcard & in a fairy-tale won the tournament, beating Pat Rafter in one of the great finals. He now coaches Djokovic.

In 2010 Djokovic stepped up to a new level & soon Fed was struggling to keep up with both of them. Until his late 2010's resurgence as Djokovic had the Pepe insanity & whatever else was going on & Nadal was waning & seemed not to have recovered fully from the appendix operation. Until Aussie 2017 Fed had won just 2 slams-the first of the decade & Wimbledon 2012 & was behind Murray & Wawrinka who had won 3 each by that point. Fed coasted against guys for the most part & then couldn't compete with Rafa or Novak. One of the greats, but those two ultimately are better-their battles were the ones of the decade, his H2H against them after the 2000's is weak.

Nadal is clearly 3rd best. Fed took awhile to figure him out, but once he did, it was over for Nadal. Nadal hasn't beaten Fed any time after 2014 (maybe once on clay?). Fed is clearly better on every surface except clay
