If you look at the geography of Japan, it's actually a very chitty place to start a country in. However, because it is so mountainous and relatively isolated from the rest of the world, it provides a natural defense for them. Part of the reason why the atomic bomb was dropped, much easier to just drop a bomb rather than fight a war of attrition with mountains acting as a defense and having to travel their by land or water. Mongols tried to invade them after they conquered China but they got buttphucked by tsunamis and treacherous waters. They rely so much on trade with other nations that it is in their best interest to not make enemies out of anybody. However, to this day I don't think Russia and Japan have signed a formal peace agreement.

Before the war, these men were average Joes, like bankers, shoe salesman, retailers, etc. But during the war, they became mass murderers. There were grizzly explanations of mass murder in that book too.
Own it. Looking at it as I write this. Great book.

I apologized for not only what should not have happened 83 years ago but also what should not happen again in the future.

Every time I hear or learn bad things which happened to real people I ask myself, "What if that had happened to my family, my friends and people whom I know. How would I feel?"

We all humans are supposed to be hard-wired to feel others' pain especially when we are the ones who hurt them. But still this happens again and again, everywhere in the world and every time in the past, present and future repeatedly.

We can't change the past but we can change the present and future.

I'm the only Japanese here in misc. If I am not supposed to apology, then tell me who else!?
